P2P programs now considered illegal in America

The Supreme Court has ruled that p2p programs (filesharing programs) are considered devices used to distribute copyrighted material, and the makers & distributers of this software can now be sued by companies who feel their products are illegally being shared.

no, the software has always been legal. but people have beening using it for illegal purposes.

but now, even the software is considered illegal.

which I assume means these companies can no longer legally distribute their p2p software. and they can be sued for it now also

oh well. it doesn't really affect users that much, because if you want to download something, your going to.

good point

but I think their ruling was for the software that its sole purpose is to share files...technically messenger services are used for communication

but Im not exactly sure on how everything will work out
