Im yet to start bodybuilding properly.. the longest time I've ever worked out is a week... but loads of problems have come up,

But boy have I got a reason to look after myself and get stronger, I also want to be strong for my family so I can protect them, Also at times I get very angry easy so I need to channel my anger, the gym would be perfect,

Anyways great post Kaboom, very moving.. << actually wait a minute... (I hate the wheels on my chair...) take out the moving part, very inspiring :)

haha ur welcome kaboom. glad i could help.

I'm also glad to see that everybody here comes from a different background, but we all come for the same goal. there's nothing like the feeling of bettering yourself in both body and mind. That's what this sport/lifestyle are all about. If you're not set in your mind, then your body can't progress. If you're body's not set up to flourish, you're mind's torn up. This is a full body and mind sport/lifestyle. It's a beautiful thing.

Hey Genghis - a week is a good start - once you get it into your routine it becomes habitual. And definately helps with the anger - releases lots of endorphins to help you feel great. Go for it, bro!

Okay, so I am currently 29 years old, am 5 foot 2 (close to nothing) and am at 238lbs. That is a lot - however when I started my road of following my dream to become a cop I was 28ish and 285lbs with NOT a bit of muscle, could not go over 2.5 on the tread mill at any timeframe over 2 minutes without sweating and being winded and was a lump of nothing to my family other then love.
Now, I did at one point if you look back on this board get down to 223 and then life hit. Both my boys within a six month span (one is 7 the other just turned two) were diagnosed with different things both in the category of special needs. The 7 year old Adhd/OCD with impulse control issues, anxiety as well as a coordination disorder. His brain don't tell his hands and feet what to do as well as they should be. He can walk and talk, just can't write as well and the other stuff...that's a long list. The two year old was given the dio of Autism. It has improved greatly per intervention of diet and therapy and we do expect part of the dio to drop off. I know I know, my boys are challenged in life but my quick up end of it, Jacob Dylon (7) is listed at a mind power/ability and memory of a 13+ year old's mind and is listed by doctors as clinically gifted/gunnies. Aidan Blaze (2) is showing signs and has been since 8 months old as a musical prodigy. So yea, give and take ain't bad.

So, I took time off to cope/deal/learn/understand and grasp what that six months of doc's visits meant for the now as well as the future. As of three weeks ago (minus the past five days of the damn east coast bug going round) I am back to the gym four to five days a week. Back down to 236.8 as of this morn and feel great. Keeping a log for diet and working out and busting my chubby hump to run/lift my way to being the best (soon to be) 30 year old cop in Maine. That in a nut shell is me, Poppa.

Thank you for listening.

Thanks for sharing bigpoppa that is a rough hand but i think people are delt these hands becuse mabey we can deal with these things better then other people might and we can learn and grow stonger from these things. I have a cousin who is autistic and another friends child aswell there seem to be lots of levels. Great your looking onto diet for helping i hear this is something that is really working for people. Im amazed you can fit in 4-5 a week. Probably the best thing for them as well as you. Get a mental and physical break which would daily happenings easier to deal with. Keep it up! All the best.

Thanks all for the great words. I feel kinda bad after watching what I type yesterday, almost looks like a "Look at my sad life" post.

But on the real it came down to 285, two kids, a wife and a life long dream.

Stay fat, not be a cop and die young most likely or get off my ass, play with the kids, love the wife, diet as best I can and hit the gym. Yep...I took the second choice.

One thing that I didn't mention is the way I get in 4-5 days at the gym.
Up at 6:45 to get the 7 year old up, fed and on the bus for school and off to the gym at about 8:30 and not to work till 12 so I can work out, shower and relax before working my typical 12-8 and then home to kiss the boys (both asleep by then) and few hours with the wife. Gym is 7 miles away and work is only 6.5 from there so I am lucky. All one straight shot too.

Thanks again though, sorry if it was a downer post, it was my here I am and why I am and I jus take it day by day and love them for all they can take :)
