Couple of days ago, the family and I where in the local Giant Eagle in Harrison City. We are in the checkout line, minding my own business, amusing the kids until it was my turn.
We have one of those truck style bugges, for the kids you've seen them.
Well the next line over is a mid to late 30's.. Just her and her cart.
Come to see her start to shake badly.. " Shes having a Seizure" toward the handle of her cart. I see it and so does my wife.
I literaly jump the cart over the part that holds the groceries and catch the lady before she hits the ground.
Cradle her body in my arms lay her down and pull out my cell phone dial 911 and get them on the line.. People are crowding me and asking me all kinds of questions. Come to find out that most everyone in the store dialed 911.
The Seizure lasted for about 1 minute to 1. 5 minutes.
I have come to realize that everyone becomes a Doctor in situations like this.. Give her this, give her that.. Do this, do that.. You should ask her this, ask her that.
I get the 911 dispatcher on the phone and explain the situation. age, issue, amount of time.
I go as far as getting her cell phone from her purse and searching in it for a Home # or family contact. All while on the phone talking to the 911 dispatcher.. She says the paramedics are enroute and to hold on.
I wasn't about to say, well i really have to go, some is here as my turnover. lol..
The lady calms down and I start to talk to her.. She is responding my blinking her eyes at my request. Do you know where your at? ( no blink) My name is Chris. can you hear me, she blinks. The paramedics are on there way. ok, she blinks.
Luckly she did not become incontient. ( loose her bowels), I was luckly for that one.
The paramedics arrive shortly after the call. I explain the situation and let them take over. I help my wife up and we get our kids from eagles nest. It's a child play area within giant eagle.
One of the paramedics is a harrison city firefighter also.. I recognize him and say Hey Marty. How's is going.. He says hey Chris.. People look at us and Marty says, He's a fellow harrison city firefighter for station 87. Mam you where in good hands. She kinda smiled and I said you need anything else from me Marty,, He said nope, thanks for doing what you did Chris. Appreciate it. See you at the station.
