Hey all, i've never really talked about this to anyone before but the time has come to face some problems of mine. I've got some serious issues with aggression.

Sunday night there i was in a club with all my friends & my girlfriend. We were all drinking pretty heavy but having a great time. I was talking to my girlfriend at one stage, kinda having a bit of a row, & this guy was sitting on the table we were at like an inch away from us. Everytime i looked up it seemed to me he was listening in on us. I completely lost the plot. I saw red, got up & literally through him half way across the club, he actually slide across the dance floor. The bouncers had me out before i got to him.

Turns out the dude went to school with my girlfriend & is a good friend of my best mates girlfriend. I've been told he wouldn't say boo to a cat. I've had to do some serious apologising the last few days & i'm not exactly feeling very proud of myself right now.

It's probably the most stupid shit i've ever done & i deeply regret it. Thing is it's not the first time something like this has happened. The times its been serious & i've exploded it's always been drink related. So obiously there's a pretty big step i know i have take there. But not counting when i'm drunk & get rised quiet easy & i let things get to me.

Both my girlfriend & my mam want me to go talk to someone about it. My pride says no, but i think it's time i faced up to it before i loose everything, everything been my girlfriend & all my mates.

My question is, has anybody here got problems with aggression? How do you deal with it? Have you ever seen anybody about about it?

I believe that your's may be based on protectiveness, your age, liquid courage ( alcohol ). And you may have felt that this guy was attempting to gain your girl friends attention to draw her away..

But then I don't know you from a bar of soap. I was not there, I'm basing my answer from what you are tellin us.

I remember when I was 22 and the dumb things that I did/performed.. How silly and embarrased I felt and remebering them now, just knowing what I did.

There is no harm in talking to a professional. I have done it, in the worse of times in my life and it has helped me.

There's the answer right there. If its drink fueled in the first place then you should stop drinking, not only to stop the agression but bodybuilding and heavy drinking don't mix.

talking to a psychologist can only do so much for ya bud. personally i'd say to ease back on the drinking. the more you drink, the more your emotions come into play. i know its hard to do cuz your irish mate, but try it out sometime. what's the craic? (sorry had to say it. met some irish exchange students last semester and they had me laughin' histerically with that). try goin to the club sometime and not drinkin at all...you may be surprised to see that you can have fun without alcohol being a factor.

also what are you drinkin'? beer, alcohol, combo of both? let me know bud cuz one could be your kryptonite while another will be the complete opposite.

i have talked about this a million times about my anger and how i got my screenname but yours seem to be alcohol related and you know it so just stop drinking lol

1. You need to quit drinking. It does nothing for you.
2. You would be well served to talk with a counselor or psychologist. (Talking to a psychologist doesn't mean you have problems) you just want to get to your optimal self; be the best you can be.

3. Other times when you are mad and not drinking is it from frustration? Why were you frustrated? All of us have made mistakes, are usually quick to judge, and at the end of the day those things that frustrate you probably don't matter.

Here is why you shouldn't drink alcohol:

When you drink the first priority is to get rid of the alcohol. It is the liver's first priority and it jumps to the front of the line in front of all the other marvelous duties the liver performs.

Fatty acids accumulate in the liver.
Alcohol impacts amino acid metabolism
Dampens (ADH) which helps maintain fluid balance in the body. So now instead of retaining water you are excreting it and to make it worse you probably continue to drink alcohol when you get thirsty... drink water in between drinks. Also with that water loss you are losing minerals and impacting your electrolyte balance.
Folate is affected immensely due to alcohol intake. You’re probably thinking why the hell do I care if folate is affected.

Folate converts homocysteine to methonine. Alcohol disrupts folate's ability to convert homocysteine to methonoine. The result is an excess of homocysteine, which has been linked to heart disease, and an inadequate supply of methionine, which slows the production of new cells." (1)

B1 and B6 are also affected.

“In addition to the impact on your body alcohol is involved in all of the following:” (2)

1/4 of all ER admissions
1/3 of all suicides
1/2 of all homicides
1/2 of all domestic incidents
1/2 of all traffic fatalities
1/2 of all fire victim fatalities

The MEOS is usually responsible for 20% of alcohol a person ingests but it is kind of like a second responder.

"If a person drinks and uses another drug at the same time the MEOS (microsomal ethanol oxidizing system) will dispose of the alcohol first and metabolize the drug more slowly." (3)

"About 10% of the alcohol leaves the body through the breath and the urine." (4)

The nutrition bottom line: alcohol receives priority treatment that effects nutrient metabolism, protein/amino acid synthesis, water/electrolyte balance, fatty acid accumulation, vitamin deficiency, and adds 7 calories/g of empty nutrients.

I am usually a prety calm person, it takes A LOT to make me explode, but it has happened. I listen to a lot of agressive music... and i play a lot of agressive music on guitar, which i find somewhat theraputic. I have a lot of time on my own, so i do a lot of soul searching and what not. I go extra hard in the gym. I have parents that bring me down to size if i get a bit to big for my boots haha

a-fuckin-men especially the part about parents putting you n me back on the food chain where we belong.
i once got my mum to punch me in the head, like right in the side of the head in the temple area n she dropped me like nothin lol it was all good though we both know it was for fun n ment nothing by it :)

obviously you cant handle your liquor..typical of the Irish.I come from a very long line of distinguished Irish drunks/alcoholics/brawlers/hell raisers...bite the bullet and take the pledge or you can look forward to many more of the same..After 3 DWI convictions,a dozen wrecked cars countless brawls not to mention a broken nose and my front teeth knocked out took the pledge and have not had a drink since..
