Normally, I would head off to a car forum and begin posting questions in there but I'm a gym rat and wanted to ask some fellow rats about my new car buying decisions. I just landed a great job and after I get myself settled into a new place I wanted to purchase something to play with on the weekends. I'm 22 years old, I have no kids and no mortage to pay. The only bills I have are rent and utilities which take up about 30% of my income. I have a work truck that I drive on a daily basis and the company provides gas, uniforms, boots, and even pay my cell phone bill.

What I wanted to know, mainly from the older guys on here, is what would you buy? I'm thinking about $30k to spend and I want something fun to drive on the weekends. Back and forth to the gym, car shows, weekend errands...that type of thing. I've never had a performance car and now that I have the means and the money, I'd like to see what I can get. No preference towards German, American or Japanese cars. Just wanted to see what my fellow body builders had to say on the subject.

Thanks in advance for any forthcoming responses.

I would wait for the Chevy Volt. I don't think gas prices will be going down anytime soon and it seems like they are hitting new record highs everyday.

Do you want a brand new car or will slightly used with a few thousand miles be fine?

I like the new style Toyota Avalons, an Acura TL, or CTS V would be nice too.

My favourite Car is the Chevelle SS ('64 - '73 Model) It's my all time favourite car and I plan on getting one when I'm a bit older because I like to work on cars and all that jazz. My uncle works for a Car Parts Dept. at the Local GM "Jerome Taylor" dealership and auto-body shop. He has an older one waiting for me when I get onto University or College.

that's a pic of it. I would suggest that or what Freak said about the Chevy Volt.

I'd rather have something with less than 35k miles. However, something with a manual trans. or something that is more performance minded would need to be new because you never know what kind of treatment a used manual transmission has been through.

Yeah I mean that. It is going to have an electric motor and a gas motor but you will be able to drive about 40 all electric which is most people round trip to work and wherever else they go. I can't wait.

2007 STI. this will be last year that the impreza looks nice because they're redesigning it into a gay looking hatchback.

but if you want a good bang for your buck, get this. i'm not good at driving stick but i've had the pleasure of driving one of these, and once i got it rolling. the handling is fucking insane and it pulls like crazy.

I can drive most anything with wheels. As I said, Freak, I have a work truck that sees the daily driving experience. It's a 2500 Hemi Ram, so I'm not really needing an electric car. Definately thought about the STIs and I'm certainly going to add it to the list for a test drive. However, I feel like the WRX has lost a lot of it's sleeper quality because now every kid I know has one and the word is out...THESE THINGS ARE FAST and everyone knows it.
