Mate,
i went to TAFE aftering finishing my HSC to get my trade certificate in Parks and Gardens. I got an apprenticeship so was at TAFE for 4 years.
I've since used that qualification to get myself into the NSW Police where i've been working for the last 5 years. I'm now starting to earn some really good cash.
Everyone needs to start someone. I reckon TAFE is a lot better than UNI. Its more laid back you make friends in the "jindustry" your trying to get into which helps in the long run.
When i first started at TAFE i did a yar fulltime bridging course which was the samer as the 1st year of an apprenticeship. After that i got a job and it was full time for 4 years one day a week. A friend of mine and myself wanted to do the advance course so we went at night 2 times a week. So i was going at one stage 3 times a week. I didnt think this was to overwhelming but wouldnt and havent done it since
hope this helps, my reply is a bit over the place but i think i've answered some of your questions
