Thanks Moorey / Fraghag .. I appreciate your kind words.. It's bittersweet.. I have 2 fallen member's that I have to pay tribute to, one is a Life Time Member that passed away funeral for him is March 15th and the other is from a Grove City, young man was 21 Years old and lost his life due to his body was 70 % burned. He died doing what he loved to do.

I'm actualy in tears writing this, cus it didn't need to happen. To leave this world at such a young age, and leave everyone behind. It leaves an empty feeling in my soul.

We had a house explode in Plum ( natural gas leak in a 2 inch line in front of the house ) and some of the members of my Essentials class assisted in fighthing that Huge Blaze.. It was the absolute worse anyone in Sardis station 78 or any of them had been apart of in there life time.

We don't get paid, but we will put our lives on the line to save You and your Property from Damage.

I have passed my 200 question test for my Essentials Training.. 100 True and False and 100 Multiple choice questions. This was by far the most extensive test ever..

I have a SBS ( Structure Burn Session ) at the structure burn facility Westmoreland County Community College Thursday evening and one scheduled for the full day on Sunday,, ( just so happens to be Mother's day,, wow aren't I lucky)

Sunday will conclude 4 months of training / 166 hours of class time and man hours invested.

I have learned so much in this class that it's priceless. I know there are more experienced Firefighter's reading this and they most likely remember of having taken the Essentials class also.. Probably less time invested then my class. It's the first step on a long road to becoming a dependable, safe and trusting firefighter.

It has paid a price on my life, my family being away from them ( my wife and kids) in the evenings and weekends. But the end result is the information, education and hands on knowledge that I now have to be able to assist in fighting fires or attacking them as a team.

I will get my certifications from Buck's County indicating I have Successfully completed my training.

I have completed my Structure Burn Session at the WCCC in Smithton PA May11th from 8am to 4pm.

My 166 hours of Essentials Training is finished. It lasted from Jan to May. I have learned a great deal in the fire service from this course of which I will apply to my training. I have a lot more courses to take down the road.

All in all it was fun, a bit stressing at times. But I would encourage anyone whom wishes to become a firefighter to take the course and see it through.

I know the guys in the dungeon that are already accomplished firefighter's know exactly what I'm talking about.
