Do not let those nightmares bring you down! When I quit smoking (after 15 years), I had these dreams for a full year! Nicotene is the most addictive
substance known to mankind. More so even than heroin! (Maybe not as addictive as meth, I'm not sure.)
The dreams that you're having are a trick that your mind will play on you. Due to the addictiveness of the drug & it's long term affects on the mind, your mind will do almost anything to get the drug back.
My theory is this: The mind is trying to get you to smoke by making you think that you have already busted your quit, so you might as well. It's kind of bitchy, if you think about it, but very effective on some people, I'm sure.
Congratulations on making it so far! The physical addiction is long over (72 hours & it's completely out of your system). The psychological addiction, however, will linger. Some people believe that former smokers are like alcoholics. Alcoholics are either in recovery, or they are not. Those who are not currently drinking are in recovery. Those who are not in recovery, ... you get the idea.
As a word of caution - DO NOT TELL YOURSELF THAT YOU CAN TRY ONE, JUST TO SEE WHAT THE BIG DEAL WAS! I've known guys that have been non-smokers for years. They pick up a smoke 'just to see what it's like now'. They cough, they spew, they say "How could I ever have done that every day?". But they finish the cigarette. And by the end of the day, they are smoking the EXACT same amount that they had before they quit. This is usually the sink-or-swim effort of the mind, trying to get the drug back.
Besides, by now, you're smelling things, tasting things, simple things that you had completely forgotten what they really smelled/tasted like. Your home smells, looks, feels & is cleaner than it was when you were a smoker. You are saving TONS of money. Within 7 years, your lungs will be indistinguishable from those of someone who never smoked. Besides all of that, you are probably noticing the smokers in the gym. Their clothes sme-ell! Their body sweats that stuff out & you can smell it just like you're licking a dirty ashtray.
You are WAY better off without them!
