I was short on friends after I changed my lifestyle and no longer had much in common with them. I joined a martial arts class a few years ago and met some really cool people with some similar interests.

yeah i do have bodybuilding, you guys, class mates and workmates but it just seems to be an "every man for himself" envoriment that does not make way for friends, only what i'd call temporary alliances.
it just feels wierd being on ya own day in day out with no one there for ya but the odd spotter or two, and perhaps a friendly smile now and again. the only other ppl who i could be friends with are CERTAINLY NOT my type.

Well bud, a lot of us have been there. The goal is to stay focused, stay healthy and stay motivated. Don't turn inward but use your time here to gain knowledge and put it to use so your time spent here isn't wasted. Go outside and just walk around if nothing else. Just being outside and having some alone time to appreciate things can help.

Remember that everyone feels this way from time to time but you want to avoid getting yourself into a mental rut. Eat right and stay fit and youll get friends and find a lady or ladies when the time is right man. You're young and at an age where peer pressure can be a bitch. turn to family and faith if you have it. Find community gatherings where you can blend in and be noticed when you are ready to be. Youth clubs, religious gatherings etc. Sometimes sports can be too much to jump straight into if you're akward and not used to being singled out.

My high school years and all my time abroad consisted of temporary friends - people I didn't actually care for all that much, but I considered their company to be better than nothing at all. It sounds like you are as picky as I am about real friends so as unfortunate as it is your only choice in some situations may be to take the short-time friend route. Best of luck however you go about it!

it seems like the fabric of reality is weakinging...like i have chains hooked on me so i cant move. i dunno...its just one big headache
