I've noticed over the years that the post polite people i've come across have been inside the gym. Always encountered courteous people with very few exceptions. However, the same people in the sport that have been encountered outside the gym atmosphere have been complete opposite.

I was wondering why that was really. It's not like people in the gym are in the best area for confrontation. Most are so damn tired getting back to their vehicle presents problems.

I agree with you.
Speaking of meeting polite people in a gym.
This Powerlifter who competes gave me some routine for legs
and is handing me over his mini fridge and all. lol..

But out of the gym i do notice people acting more aggresive, and potentially more aggitated.
Its weird, i do guess its cus their tired?

Are we talking the same people or different people.

Same people it is likely that they lack the fellowship of like minded individuals. I've noticed that I've come in for discrimination because I'm fit and healthy ("ooo you so lucky to have a fast metabolism" "Fuck off I work hard for this!" NB: not my actual reply). Big guys are also thought of as dumb, agro, steroid users. So it may just be a reaction to the way they get treated, they just put up a tough exterior so that pansies don't talk to them.

Different people, well it could just be that you go to the nice gyms, meet the good people and have developed a commaraderie. Atmosphere at gyms can do that, so that you feel bonded with the other trainees, while at others you can't stand them. So basically you are seeing in the street the dipshits that society is made up of.

That's wierd, if I see someone I know outside of the gym, we'll chat for like 10 - 20 mins.

Maybe they just want me, who knows

You could be one sexy bitch!

I meant the typical looking gym rat outside the gym are usually pretty arrogant and more often than not, buttheads. The same 'type' inside usually do not display that personality. Just thought it was odd. Not enough to go pick up a psychology class or anything :P

I agree for the most part, I have beef with old timers who think they know every excercise in the book, yet look like the same for 4-5 years. But overall in the gym, I get hassled alot because of my frame, and interuppted, and even with headphones, as I am deemed by most a nice apprachable guy, I guess I have to be a sarcastic prick then, and maybe I could get my workout done in an hour.

i actually think that a lot of people build up their body b/c of their insecurities in order to compensate for shortcomings.....

i think guys who are polite in the gym but assholes out are just guys who think that b/c they workout they are somehow superior to the ordinary guy on the street. its usually not the monster that everybody respects in the gym its usually the guy that does the club muscle excercises ie: biceps and chest & he works out in blue jeans and a wife beater b/c he knows he will never get near the squat rack
