U.S. death toll in Iraq reaches 2,500
18,490 U.S. troops have been wounded since 2003 invasion, Pentagon says

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13337155/

Im sure it will be close to 5,000 by the time Dubbya is out of office.

Just out of curiosity, can someone tell me one positive thing that has happened since we invaded?

Suddam out of power
Formation of Iraqi govt
Al Zarqawi dead
Other high level people in Al Qaeda captured or dead
250-300k Iraqi police force trained
Training of Iraqis to support and defend their own country
11M people walked miles and risked their lives to vote. Compare this voting to Americans there is a large portion of people who do not vote and they certainly would not if they had to walk miles and risk their lives the way the Iraqis did.

Every life is precious, I have had some close friends get injured, and one die from the war, but troop deaths are low compared to other wars. I think 2500 is 2500 too much but a war cannot be fought without deaths; the point is to minimize the deaths.

This administration has definitely made some mistakes but progress has undeniably been made.

I certainly do not think it will be 5k people.

There are things that we could have done differently but now that we are there and making big progress we need to finish the job, reduce troop levels as appropriate.

It is hard to see some of the positive progress in the war when the media usually only cling on to everything negative.

That's fine, good for them that they got out and voted but formation of a government? Please. They have nothing close to government stability over there and won't for another 15-20 years.

Safer in the U.S.
Know that we freed millions from lives of fear, torture, and death. Mass graves (Saddam) and Al Qaeda. Total freedom will not happen for years. Are you guys aware of what Saddam did/(ordered) to at least three hundred thousand people... mass graves, torture, pushed them off buildings blind folded and cuffed, cut their tongue off, other forms of dismemberment and torture. We all know the beheadings that Al Zarqawi performed.

In short we made the U.S. safer (took the war to them so we do not fight it here), gave millions a chance at life, and freed millions.

That is what we get.

Saddam:

Allowed terrorists to train, funding allowed them to use Iraq as a haven then Salmon Pac was a place where people came to learn how to bomb, assassinate people, Hezbollah etc.. Didn’t know anything about 9/11, however almost every country believed that Iraq had WMD’s, Clinton and most of the democrats and a lot of other country’s also thought they had WMDs. Violated the terms of the 1st Gulf War Cease fire which made the Iraq invasion legal.

Now Saddam is out of power.

We can go back and forth all night.

We are safer, people will be allowed the freedom we take for granted, we are making progress dispite some big mistakes so we need to finish the job and bring troops home asap. Now that we are there we need to make the best of it and finish the job. There are positive and negative aspects of ANY war, we need to make the best of it and then send home the troops.

What does that even mean, "we are safer"?

We could invade every single country in the world, but that still wouldn't stop a couple of crazy's from getting a bomb and blowing the shit out of a plane, building, etc.

If anything, this gives all the terrorists more reason to wanna fuck us up.

and for the record, I'd still rather have a pink llama.
