Bomb in Bangkok

Some anti-government group bombed the gate of Thailand's #2 general here yesterday. It's totally odd that I live in Dubai for 5 months and then Korea for nearly 2 years with nothing getting blown up, but I come to lovely, peaceful Thailand for a few days and suddenly people wanting to overthrow Prime Minister Thaksin get violent.

I don't think it's bad to the point of big time violence, but they're having demonstrations here most nights. The prime minister just happens to be the richest guy in the whole country and he just sold some ridiculous percentage of Thailand's telecom industry to his brother for peanuts. So now about 3/4 of the population wants Thaksin out of office and I guess some are willing to do what it takes to force him to resign.

But overall danger? None really, unless you're hanging around the PM and his cronies or the police and military decide to confront some protesters.
