Though you have to expect some soreness as the body adjusts to movements it's not used to making, especially with added weight involved.
I'm glad to hear you're considering some degree of ripped-ness, lol. Keep in mind that there are so many degrees of "ripped", involving muscle size and amount of bodyfat. I'm sure you'll find the one that's right for you. :)
