I'm very dissapointed after watching last nights show. I really believe these guys need to start conducting themselves with some class and dignity. I've made jokes about "Jay's crackpipe" but I think those comments from Ronnie last year were simply unclassy. I'm a huge Ronnie fan, but you would never have seen a past Mr.Olympia make comments like that. If you're good, everyone knows you're good. You don't have to act like a cocky jackass for people to see it.
What was even worse was Cutler sucky "poor me" attitude after the show. The man flat out GOT BEAT! You don't hear the second place finisher of a race or a sprint complaining and moping like a little girl. You simply cannot make a strong argument for a Cutler victory. I think he was lucky he got past Gustavo, who was in better shape.
My point is that the show, it's organization, the press conference, the commentary, the pay per view and the way the athletes conduct themselves has turned into an absolute joke. The Challenge round was the most embarrasing thing I have ever seen in the sport.
Those of you that followed the sport through the 90's will notice a huge change in how it's been run. If you didn't follow it then, I suggest you buy the videos from 93 to about 02 and you will see a better, more intense and "classy" show. You will also see athletes that were in shape.

untile you take an undeserved loss at something you worked a YEAR at, you cant talk about how to take that like a "gentleman". I dont see how ronnie can make comments about crack and its funny, but when jay takes a...we'll say a loss when your so close and he complains a little, he's a cry baby. shit guys, he worked a year, dieted for 17 fuckin weeks. once you guys follow a 17 week diet, skip out on a watch, a hummer, and a 100,000 $$ pacheck, just so you can stand a chance, and then have that chance stripped away by a few judges who havnt touched a weight in there life. you tell me how you take a loss like that, then, maybe, you can talk about how cutler handled it. :n00b:

First of all, I said in my thread that Ronnie's jokes were inappropriate. I agree with you on that.
But I disagree with everything else. I don't care how much it stings, you simply can't act like a little suck that didn't get his way. Cutler didn't win because he didn't deserve to win. I'm know it's frusturating to go through the dieting and training, but c'mon man, conduct yourself with some dignity. I have no sympathy whatsoever.
Cutler said somwthing to the effect of "they don't want to make a change" well, why should they? Ronnie beat him fairly. This happens almost every year where someone doesn't get what they want and they act like a baby. C'mom Cutler show some class and act like a man! I guess his fans are acting like him now.

remeber who your talkin to. Cutler isnt being a suck. i would bet you my life that ronnie would act the same way...infact, i have proof that he would have.

Lets take a look back at the 02' GNC. gunter beat ronnie fair. then later on ronnie says that gunter was given a gift, and that there is no chance he could have beatin him.

Theres proof right there that ronnie would say the same shit if jay beat him.

I never said it was OK for Ronnie to act like a suck.

what bothers me the most is the fact that the guy who has the title as Mr Olympia is most likely to win untill he retires, regardless of what he looks like.
The last time a reigning Mr olympia lost was in 1984 when Samir Bannout came in 6th. Since then there has only been 3 winners - haney, yates and coleman- who neither of them has lost.
Before Samir's lose only to others have lost in an attempt to defend the title. Sergio in 1970 and Zane in 1980.

My thoughts on the olympia.....

A very poorly run show. Ive seen high school plays that were run better. The MC with Triple H was horrible...who the fuck is Branch Keller? LOL. And when the guy dropped the bar on his chest.....could the announcer have made it any more akward? If they didn't have Shawn Ray announcing, I would have put it on mute. I was VERY impressed with Branch Warren. He had arguably the best conditioning on the stage, and him and mustafa got robbed in the Freaky Wheels Contest. The Challenge round is a huge joke, like everyone said. What a waste of time. Joe Weider looks like shit (BTYW, Ive always thought his wife was UGLY too) As for Ronnie and Jay..... Gotta go with Ronnie. Jay may have had him by an inch in a few poses, but where ronnie was better, he was clearly better. I dont know if anyone has brought this up but Shawn Ray is by no means a fan of Coleman (check out the musclemag interview a few months back!!!) and it was clear to him that Ronnie should win. When you have your critics backing you, you know youve done something right. As for Jay after the show, you cant fault the guy. He thought he had it, the judges thought differently and he was displeased. How else would he react? If you just watched your dog get hit by a car, youre not going to be particularly happy about it. Whatever your opinion of the placings were,Its shitty of the announcers to put him in a spot like that (likewise for Ronnie and Baddel after the challenge round) Shawn Ray was very kind to Jay after the show, and helped divert some of the akwardness. That being said, jay is not going to win a personality plus contest anytime soon. Ive had farts that were more exciting thatn listening to him ( I thought he may just be carb depleted, but I remember the cribs with him, and he was the same way). I was also impressed by the changes Gunther made to his physique , and by the way Gunther and Markus handled questions (very humble, both of them). One more thing...was it just me or did Chris Cormier look like he was just playing around on stage? Its almost like he knew he was off, and just said fuck it Im gonna have fun.

Just my observations.....

there will allways be people who say that there is politics and that someone else should have won couse people have differet taste in what they think look good, the thing is that cutler isnt the only one who had train hard and dieted for many weeks, did someone hear anyone else cry for their lost? or telling about politics?

lol all you all have very valid points but if you look at any sport it is all the same.
Watch a close boxing match that goes to the judges if the champ wins it was cuz they "gave" it to him, if the challenger wins its cuz it was "fixed" That is our society now and either we live with it or we change it but either way it is up to us

Good observations bro. I agree with you - it was very poorly run.

That was my entire point with this thread is that the Olympia has taken a huge turn for the worse over the last few years. You guys that followed in through the last decade will understand what I mean.
The fact that the bodybuilders act like idiots half the time was just part of the fact that everything has gone downhill. People have been getting pissed off with their placings since the beginning of contests. But it used to be that they were intellingent and articulate enough to back up their opinion. Not say "He's been smokin crack"
Notice Gumby - I used Coleman instead of Cutler here. I know it's frusturating to lose. But you have face the real facts. In Cutlers case he flat out got beat. I just think they need to show some class.

i think jay handled is horribly. i understand how he would be pissed, but he said that once you win the Olympia you just have to show up and you'll win again. I feel ronnie beat jay in everything, but thats just me. You cant blame it on the Olympia. I have no respect for jay anymore thats ridiculous. maybe its time to stop interviewing the athletes before, during and after the show. that goes for ronnie too. and for the challenge round they should have the challenger say which pose they want to the announcer and have the announcer say the pose. you put a mic in front of these guys and they say anything for attention.

if they want to gain popularity for the sport. then its time to run events like professionals. you could pick a bum off the street and he would of done just as good as that so called announcer they had.
