if he had more mass in his chest he'd be a favorite... he also looks like he may have been holding a tad bit of water in those pics

I think he is definitely a future Mr. Olympia. Even with his relatively narrow frame and clavicles, his muscles are all full blown and overflowing. His arms are unbelievably huge and those guns are a sign that new a breed of bodybuilders are coming out for the new era.

Phil heath is the most gifted BB I have ever seen even more gifted genetically than Flex Wheeler is/was. Now with that in mind he can go all the way if he wanted to. The only problem that he may have that remains to be seen is his mental toughness... Like Dorian and Cutler both men of great mental discipline and drive. These two men have by far less than ideal genetics but had great desire to be great. Flex had it all but didn't have the right mind set. He got to caught up in the glamor and adoration he received and lost his drive.

If Phil Heath can block out all the distractions and stay focused, he can achieve Mr. Olympia...but that is his only problem I see.
I don't think he will ever be a super mass freak like Ronnie.

I'd like to see more of a focus on definition over just sheer mass. From looking at him for a while, seeing him around and stuff in magazines, I can't see anything unique. Then again I don't get involved with the politics of contests and stuff. IMO he's a little too big.

he's not the future. For some reason everyone has the idea that he's the "new" flex wheeler. However some people need to go examine some pics of flex again and then come tell me phil's got him beat. Flex had a trademark incredible conditioning, flex's arms were in alot better proportion to his body than phil's is. Flex also had him beat in the back. Phil already has a bigger gut the flex does after seeing him in the 08 olympia.

You're also forgetting Phil has only been competing for 6 years. Add that into consideration. He's already got some of the best arms in the business. His back is improving year after year. Honestly, in a judge's point of view, Phil easily beats Flex. Flex might have conditioning slightly over him, but Phil easily out masses him which makes up for that. You aren't taking Phil's lower body into consideration either. His hamstrings are absolutely great, he has great calves, much better than Flex's funky calves, and his glutes are always striated and ripped as hell. I'd say quads are the same. Phil has thicker and wider lats than Flex, too. He just doesn't have the detail that Flex has, which I believe he will soon accomplish. Phil might have a bigger gut, but compared to the rest, it's fine. Maybe you should go look at Phil's pictures and tell me how much more potential he has.
You should see Phil when he was playing NCAA basketball, he was still pretty big. I'll upload pics of his first contest later, too.

i really dont think he'll be able to put on much more size, his chest and delts prob, but if he adds anymore size to anything else IMO it'll just be too much. and with people like Toney, Dennis and Evan coming up with smaller waists who'll out size him it will be tough. But with Kai, Dex, Branch and Jay's guts around i guess he will be placing decent for the next few years, when they're out there's not gunna be to many people to compare him too.

Well, I agree with you on that, anymore mass and he'll start losing his aesthetic and symmetry. But I can't even see his arms get any bigger. I can see a lot of room to grow for his chest, delts, back, and legs. And to be honest, Toney and Dennis will not surpass him, won't believe me now, but just watch in the future. Placing decent? He was 3rd in the Olympia..AHEAD of Toney and Dennis. Toney will only be a hype but he won't be anything special, he's too tall. Wolf just got surgery so we'll see how everything goes for him. I don't see Toney really improving that much, but Phil still has so much room to improve. I can see him beating Dex for the Olympia this year. It's just those damn narrow clavicles! And uh, Dex doesn't have a gut..

dex's gut isnt the same as it was in like '03 but i see what you mean im just real picky on it but anyways..Dennis was 15lbs lighter at the olympia then what he was supposed to be, he made a wrong decision and went 0 carbs. he said he lost 15lbs and was just stuffing himself a few days before the olympia so i can only imagine what he really would've looked like. when i said phil will be placing decent i was referring to anywhere in the 2-4 spots. Toney came in flat at the arnold but if you had seen his pics a few weeks before the arnold im pretty sure you'd be shocked he was looking mighty good and he will put up a good fight to move up a rank. Kai and Vic are back so im looking forward to seeing where everyone places, i dont think i can remember the last time so many people could all be a contender for a Mr O.

Yeah, this year's olympia will definitely be interesting with all these guys. And Toney only looks good before the contest, a lot of people do. But once they step on stage standing next to someone like Kai, it looks like nothing changed. Did you see him at the Australia Grand Prix? He looked horrible.
I think this year's top five will be in no order, Dex, Heath, Kai, Wolf, and Jay.

Here is a pic of Phil back when he played basketball in college.

And here are pics from his first contest.

Here's a comparison shot with Flex, Phil, and Shawn Ray.

And here are just some crazy pics. If you honestly don't see anything special here, then something must be wrong with your eyes.

Now, look at the pic from college and then look at the pictures I posted afterwards. The difference is a little more than 6 years I believe. Now tell me you think he's not the future. He is only 28 years old and he still has more muscle maturity to go through. All the other guys are 30+ years old and have more mature muscles than him. They've been bbing for 15+ years and Phil is already caught up with them after 6 years. You think Phil isn't going to keep improving year after year? I hope this changes something in your mind about how much potential this guy's got.

You do realize the pic of flex and shawn you put up were NOT when they were in there 30's right? its irrelevant to say that they've been competing for over 15+ years and then put a pic of them when they were younger. quote Chad Nichols "Flex you're clavicles were small, but Phil's is just tiny" i still hold my judgement bro, i really can't see him as Mr O, how many of the past Mr Olympias had narrow shoulders? right now as far as best body parts go, he has no doubt some of the best Arms and good hamstrings, but is that enough to be a mr olympia? after seeing kai at the AC its guna be a big challenge.

Oh, I do realize Flex was young in that competition. 93 Olympia, 28 years old, around Heath's age now? Not sure, but Phil was training for 6 years. Guys like Flex and Shawn have been training since they were much younger than when Phil started. Flex's first competition was in 1983, which is 10 years before the 93 Olympia so Flex was training for at least 10 years in that picture. Thus, what I have said actually wasn't irrevelant. Yeah, they were the same age, but Flex still trained longer and that does make a big difference. Oh, and the muscle maturity part, I meant the current competitors have muscle maturity over him, if you didn't notice.

Phil may have short clavicles, but that's a thing of the past. Even Phil said himself, a judge once told him narrow shoulders are a thing of the past, so he may be lucky. Look at Dex, his shoulders aren't that much wider than Phil's. I'm not saying he's going to sweep Kai away, I think the Olympia could be between them. But to me, Phil has the entire package. Conditioning, mass, symmetry. Kai has crazy conditioning and he does have sick mass, but not as good symmetry as Phil. The competition can go either way depending on what the judges prefer that day.

If you honestly can not see him as Mr. O, then I just can't wait till he proves you and every other unbeliever wrong. You're seriously judging the whole competition because of his narrow clavicles? What about Kai's gut, Vic's leg asymmetry, Jay's blockiness, Freeman's height, and the list goes on. Everyone has something wrong with them, but in my opinion, Phil has the least weak points with great strong points to mask those weak points.

Oh, also, when I posted the pics of Heath and said if you don't see anything special here then something is wrong with your eyes, I directed that to n88r since he said he doesn't see anything special about him. Didn't mean that to ya.

alright didnt know u meant it to n88tr, anyways back to the subject no its not based on clavicles theres more to it but thats all preference and would ruin the whole debate. Don't mind Jay and Dex, the only reason they're around in the first place was politics ive never liked the 2 of them.

Vic's leg symmetry? you cant even notice it, you have to literally stare at them and figure out which one the smaller one is, im sorry to say but vic is gunna bitch slap Phil. Vic also has some of the best arms in the business, plus he brings the very broad shoulders and he brings the more proportional chest and delts. Kai really needs to work on his waist line thats about it, and he can actually afford to lose some mass so being streamline isnt a big obstacle, considering he just made a **** ton of bank and can do something about it. its not that im a non beleiver, before i saw him in 08's mr O i really did beleive he was going to do incredible, when i saw him at this years mr o i realized hes kinda ****ed cuz of his frame, cant do alot more with it. Unlike Toney, Vic and Dennis who have a goooood amount of room to grow.

My bad, I didn't mean leg asymmetry, that's a small problem, I just meant how he has weak legs from the front, but from the side, they're great. Vic and Phil's arm are both pretty much the best in the business. Vic has rounder biceps but Phil has fuller bellies and I think Phil basically has the biggest triceps ever, even beating Levrone possibly. Both of them have the best brachioradialis, too. Victor definitely has some of the widest shoulders and a great chest compared to Phil. There's just so many factors to throw around here and there.
I honestly don't see Toney filling out his frame any more. I think if Vic and Dennis get any bigger, they'll get guts. Dennis just needs to bring up a few things without having to get bigger.

Anyway, we can't really say who is the best now until Olympia comes so we'll just see who comes out on top.

Phil Heath will "dust" Kai Greene. Hands down. Mark my words.
And I see Phil winning the 'O' for the next 5 years. Write it down. Go to Vegas - place your bets. Money is in the bank with Heath.

I don't see it happening...I don't see anyone "dust" away anyone. I think it's going to be a head to head battle between Kai, Phil, maybe Victor, and Dexter.

Just IMO.

I never really noticed Vic's. Victor has a wider waist, but it doesn't look bloated to me. And compared to Phil Heath, Kai has a huge gut. Nonetheless, he still has great abs.

I have to admit when i first saw phil i wasnt overly excited didn't see the hype that surrounded him. But over the last couple months he is quickly becoming one of my fav's. This guys is nuts and in my opinion is a huge competitor for the O. However the Dennis Wolf is no pussy cat, I cant wait to see these two future Mr. Olympia's battle on stage, it really gets me excited thinking about the furute of the sport and how hopefully were going for more of an aesthetic look.

I've ever seen Phil "out of shape". Even during guest poses he's still almost flawless in my eyes. True champ.

Dude was huge. You can tell he was just starting his cut for the olympia, but he was a beast. I got a few pics I will post up in a few days. Some r crappy cuz he didn't hold poses for very long, but he wasn't competing either. Phil, you r the man. I can't wait to see wat u look like in the Olympia.
