I thought he would be in the top three with branch and lee priest, but never thought he could win. But he deserved it, he looked amazing

Great news from Australia!

I would've guessed he would've finished in the top four but never would've guessed he'd beat out guys like Priest and Branch. It's not even that I don't think he has a good physique, I just expected him to get overlooked again. Looking at the pics though, it's hard to argue that he didn't have it won, although I'd still like to see him bring up his back.

I agree bro, but honestly, not to get off-topic..I know he has a lot of fans but I think the era of Ruhl is done. I was just flipping through some pics of the 2004 Olympia where he finished 5th and it was a huge gift. He was smooth everywhere. With the exception of Dex and Gustavo who were both shredded, it seemed like mass ruled the judging criteria for that contest. There is no way he is a top 5 bodybuilder in the world IMHO.

I'd still probably put Gunter ahead of Ronnie for now, even though I think Ronnie is more complete, he does need slightly more size. Gunter got into good shape at this years O so I'm not going to take anything from that even though I thought his placing was too generous. I'm actually trying to figure out why Gunter just does the O each year because I really don't see him ever winning it but maybe that's just me. I wonder if he's making enough money from just that and his sponsorships to support him year-round. I think strategically, if he was to compete in "smaller" early-season shows it might expose some of his weaknesses and therefore bump him down in his Olympia placings. Who knows, just thought I'd add some thoughts on the best German bodybuilder discussion.

when i looked at the pics at MT, after the 2005 O, i was amazed how RR got his placing... i mean if you look at the pics, he looked like a top ten material for sure, i mean if george farah got there, RR most def deserves to be in the top 10.

I beg to differ about ruhl...i think he hasn't said his final word yet...this will be his definitive year...if he nails his condition (and qualifies for the MR. O) and breaks the top 7-8 at the O he is still in the game. If he fails again then i think it will be over for him...you must realize that for a BB being off one year isn't the end of his career. IMO ruhl is a great BB with plenty more to say...let's hear if FUR DAS FREAK!!!! (sry to hijack the thread)

First, you didn't hijack the thread, I did which I'm notorious for so it's all good lol

And honestly, I don't wish bad things on anyone, I just think that Ruhl's overrated and didnt deserve his top 5 finish. I know he's got a great fan base but I can't see the appeal in his physique other than he's a very humble guy, and huuuuuge. Anyways, I'm curious to see how he looks this year and here's a few pics of what I was talking about from the 2004 O where he finished 5th. I just don't think, unless he gets into much better shape, they won't award someone this soft anymore with such high placings. If he doesn't repeat his 2002 NOC form or better it I think he's in a lot of trouble in upcoming contests.
