Hey guys, some bitches stopped by last night so I had to part with the show but I just watched it this morning. Wish I could've been here for the "roundtable" discussion but here are, as usual, my brief thoughts on the finals:
Posing Rounds:
-I thought Branch's routine was good, I'm glad he knows what music at least fits his physique well
-The way Melvin poses and moves continues to amaze me
-Roc's got some big fucking shoulders on him! He looks much improved from when he won his pro card, probably due to not having to worry about weight classes anymore
-Armin looks more impressive standing next to other competitors due to his size
-The following people need to hire people to handle their music: Toney Freeman, JJ, Kris Dim...please?
-"Music of the Night" from
Phantom of the Opera for Mustafa...personally I like it, and he hits his poses in this round well; seemed fitting
-Roberson posed
too slow for "Diamonds of Seirra Leone" and personally I like the original version without Jay-Z better but that's just me. Plus, why keep the cowboy hat if you're posing to rap
-In a few years Hide's going to be a damn good pro, nice trunks too lol
-Cook looks much better on video/live than he does in pictures
-Has Haidar ever done a deadlift in his life?
-I thought Badell had a good routine and the music might not have fit his physique well but it fit the routine well
Final Results: 1. Gustavo
-Looked good enough to win. Branch was harder than he was but Badell continued to gain momentum as the show went on I think deserved the win. Badell had better overall seperation and showed good vascularity despite carrying a little water in the back shots. Plus his intensity on-stage is entertaining. The only thing that bothers me is he supposedly won
all four rounds and won by a total of 13 points. With 50% of the fans seeing the show going to Branch, I don't know how the judges could see it in Badell's favor the whole time.
2. Branch
-Also looked awesome but for some reason his abs weren't quite as sharp in some poses as they have been and it looked like he had slight trouble controlling his stomach. He didn't quite have the detail he usually does when relaxed, although his muscles did come alive when posing. I'd like to see him with a little more color too. Overall I was pulling for Branch to win and it could've gone either way, but I agree with the judges here.
3. Melvin
-Marvelous
4. Mustafa
-Looks so much better by himself next to others. His waist and obliques look wider than the guys he was up there with. Still a good bodybuilder, I just had him about 3 spots lower.
5. Toney
-Much improved and I'm happy to see he made the top 5. Hopefully we'll see him at the O this year...keep plugging on!
