Hi everyone,

I am new to writing into these types of things. I have never done this before. I am 29 years old and have just started lifting weights to get the look that I want and to lose the weight that I have always attempted to get off. I have done really well so far and have lost some of my weight. I have however found my first, and hopefully only, road block. I have very painful periods and yesterday I did get through some of my workout. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to better cope with the cramping, bloating, and emotional feeling that come with this lovely nature gift and still keep up with my routine? Also, today my cramps seem to be slightly worse, could this be due to lifting while on my period? I am using two machines in my garage both are Weider. I really am working hard at this and it is working, I don’t want this to stop me…. Please help. Thank you.

Obviously I dont have much experience here but my client does.
She also has painful ones.They are bad.Sometimes she might take 2 of her off days during this time.She also has very heavy periods and its not a good idea to lift heavy at all on these days either.She works out 5 days a week usually mon-fri but during her special times haha we adjust it to fit her schedule a little bit.
Also try not to do legs on a bad day this seems to make it worse for her.

Thank you for this advice. I really do appreciate it. This sounds like me, they are heavy and painful. I will try the same thing and take the days off and adjust around that.

Hi welcome to the site! Im in the same boat. It sucks sometime you can work threw it sometimes not, more not for me. I know its nice to stay in routine but your body also needs rest and I find distracted concentration and pain is just to much. If you really want to train on those days taking 2 or 3 200 mg ibuprofen and 2 extra strength tylenol ease things long enough to get in a workout. I notice water weight is bad right before but I dont know much that will help, its hard to go against nature. lol it sucks. You can also just not take the 7 day break if you taking birth control so you just dont get it.

Hi,

Thank you for you advice. I can not thank you two enough for giving me ideas on how to cope with mother nature, smiles. Your suggestions are good (and I am going to use them) and very simple that I feel a little silly for having asked the question. lol

Feel free to ask anything. I concur with Islander.. i know a lot of girls who take birth control pills because their pain/cramping is so bad. It's something to discuss with your Dr.

my partner take birth control for the same reason although she also mentioned something about not letting my demon seed propegate...whatever that means...
