Sounds like your beef is with steroid use, then. If natty federations were as popular as olympia and IFBB, maybe their use wouldn't be so rampant. Women coming into the sport are only emulating their male counterparts. The men look like freaks, they're in it to look like freaks, what do you think the women will learn when they get into it?
Steroid use is not for me, and i still want to get huge even without them, even if i'll be fighting my hormonal deficiencies tooth and nail. Of course, i was cursed with a wide jaw and a "dudley do right" cleft chin of jay leno proportions, so even if i stay natural for life, people will still accuse me of using steroids. Even natty guys who get huge are assumed to use steroids by the general population, so it all comes down to the image of bodybuilding as a whole. If the sport of bodybuilding for men and women is to grow in the next 20 years, we have to think about how we want to present ourselves to spectators and the world at large.
And while the judging at actual competitions may be more subjective for female competitors than male, i was actually talking about being "judged" by other people; friends, coworkers, and especially their fellow bodybuilders.
I think the way to encourage more women to get into this sport is to stop using "sarcasm quotes" around the gender of the women who are already in it. We should also show them natural competitors of both genders as the poster example of what a bodybuilder is, because bodybuilding doesn't necessarily have to involve steroids.
