hi my wife has been going to the gym now for about a year and all there is, is rowing machine, treadmill, bike and cross trainer, there is also the weights. usual work out is cardio on most of the machine and not many free wights. have got the stage where is so bored and cant even be bothered to go to the gym, but really should.

any suggestions, routines or ideas to spice it up

thanks

If you have space at home have a look on ebay for some 2nd hand weights/bench and power rack and train at home.

tell her not to have a particular routine. it has also been proven that incorporating some powerlifting techniques will help to burn fat ie she can try deadlifts or squats (and squats will give a pretty nice shape to her ass)

how about incorporating bodyweight movements such as squats, lunges, squat thrusts, star jumps, sit ups, pushups on knees. All of these would be beneificial and it doesn't cost a penny and can be done at home

What are her goals?

If she just goes to the gym to exercise with no clear goals set then I can see why she gets bored.

It is important to set targets like if she goes on a bike for 10 minutes aim to cover a set distance, then later aim to beat it.

Complex One

* Deadlift - 6 reps
* Romanian Deadlift - 6 reps
* Bent Over Row - 6 reps
* Power Clean - 6 reps
* Front Squat - 6 reps
* Push Press - 6 reps
* Back Squat - 6 reps
* Good Morning - 6 reps

This is done w/ no rest in b/w exercises. After one 'circuit' is done, rest 60-90seconds and do it again. It should be done 3-4 times this way. This would take the place of a HIIT cardio session. CHEERS!
