colored dots?

what do the colored dots on the left side of each thread mean? and i know i have seen it before, but what do the different colors mean in the active user section? i know blue means they are pro...i think, what do the other ones mean?

the coloured dots represent the reputation you have received.
the usernames with these colours represent their position on bbd:
blue: administrator
purple: pro
red: moderator
orange: VIP
green: sponsor

the colored dots by the thread...for instance the one next to this one is blue....they are on the page with all the threads on the far left.... i know what the green rep bars are

ok, i think i figured it out...blue means i have a pots in the thread, red means i looked at the thread, but didnt post. yellow means i havent opened it at all....

nahh never mind, thats not what it means...

Those represent the "hotness" of the thread. Blue is "cool" meaning very few, if any replies have been made to the original post. Work your way up through yellow (warm) to orange (hot) meaning that a lot of people are active in replying to the thread making it "hot".

Ok I have a question along the same lines as this thread.. How are the rep points valued out.. Are there section / s at which more rep points can be received.

Can you elaborate on which ones are the highest and lowest?

I'd have to double check the exact math behind it but basically rep power is increased according to the rep power of the people that gave you reps. If I have 150 rep power and I give you 100 rep points (notice the difference between power and points), I will raise your rep power moreso than someone who has 50 rep power who also gives you 100 rep points.
