Hi ... Can anyone tell me why the Signature image plus an Avatar GIF image can only be 29Kb or 19 Kb in sizes ???

This is a very low size limit's for a half decent moving GIF image ??? Surely we can upload a larger size than 29Kb ?

A File I had in mind was 57Kb which was a basic moving image !

Not sure. I can understand dimension limits but not so much size limits. Have to ask WM.

Had to limit the sizes because lots of people were using gigantic images and the page load times were crawling. Most people don't come to the forum to look at avatars, so if the page takes too long to load they just leave our site and go to some other site.

Page in question was a while back, decently long thread, and at least 10 people on the page had 100kb+ avatars - the page size was over 1 megabyte. That's crazy. As hard as it is to believe these days, there are still people on dial up connections and on slower high speed connections. We try to make everyone happy here at the Dungeon. :)

Yeh fair point .. This site's main priority is based on BB'ing ... which it should be

I just thought i'd ask why the avatar picture is set at such a low limit !

Might be able to raise it a little bit, but not up to 54kb unfortunately.. would, say, 25 to 30kb work out for you?
