There are a few poses that I'm looking to refine and some where I'm not exactly sure what to do correctly.

The first would be the hamstring pose. With regards to the upper body, is it best to hold in rear relaxed, back double bi, or whatever you think you look best with?

Second is hands on hips most muscular. This is a simple question because I think I know the answer, but when you flex, do you bring your traps over the top, or bring your lats from down under? I've seen the traps most commonly, but I've also seen it showcasing the lats in some instances. Is this another example of "just do what makes you look best"?

Third is hands behind the back (most muscular)? When placing the hands behind the back, what is the best way to make your shoulders pop out? Is this pose to even show the shoulders? Do you press your arms forward into your back and squeeze like you were doing hands on hip most muscular, or do you press your hands against each other almost like you would with a crab most muscular?

Also a simple one, with a back double bi, what is the best idea to do with your lower back? Do I squeeze it to make it arch, or straighten it out and "push" it towards the judges to bring everything into line?

I plan on competing 2, maybe 3 times this year. My physique might not be top notch, so I need my posing to be.

Thanks Mit, I've watched a lot of those, but not all. I think I'll see if I can watch all of them tonight and see if it ties up some loose ends.

alot depends on your physique and what is develped and what is not developed. my posing changed as became more developed because i had more to show.

when posing start with the foundation, set your legs. flex your calves, then hams, then glutes. once you have bottom half set its easier to flex the upper body.

Heh yeah thanks man, I've got all that down. I was just curious about the subtle nuances of the above poses. I guess I'll just go with how I think I look best.

cork, you need to find someone who knows about posing who can stand there while you are posing to help tweak each one. i can help but its really hard going from 2d pics and trying to explain move your arm here no more over there, turn your leg more - no the other way. it can be done just takes time and alot of pics. its much better to when a person is face to face helping. try to find a judge for your state they know how poses are suppose to look and probably help you look your best on stage. good luck.
