Way too general a question to warrant a good answer. Too many individual factors to take into consideration. Also, never cut water.

If you cut water you release aldosterone. Aldosterone causes your kidneys to retain salts and water. Basically, your body feels you are dying of thirst.

If you keep water high, then your intracellular pumps work hard to excrete water, and you flush more out.

Ok you're a damn genius but have you tried this? At my show, during the carb loading, if I drank too much water or too much of a sip, the sub-q water was extremely quick and caused me to get water logged. Not doubting you, just every bodybuilder I know and have spoke to only take sips or so of water occasionally. How I learned and worked well for me.

Maybe not cut water, but taper down. So what I'm saying is, maybe you are too, but when the body senses a drastic decrease in water, a hormone will be released. So if tapered down, could prevent that. Are we on same page? lol.

Agree. Too many things to consider.

How do you plan on carb depleting/loading? Body type? How your body responds?

Here was my plan on the morning when I woke up:

Show: 12:30 AM

8 AM: 2 large pancakes, maple syrup, 2 whole eggs.
10 AM: Rice cake, peanut butter, raisins.
10:45 AM: Rice cake, peanut butter, raisins.
11:45 AM: 1/2 white potato.
12:15 PM: Rice cake.

But I looked flat for my show, didn't work what I did but may work for you. Up to you man.

Yup, at my last show I was the only one pounding water - I was also the driest on stage.

If you taper or cut water leading up to the show, then it's too late; you'll already have triggered the hormonal response. Sadly, the old school precontest rhetoric is always "cut water the day before".

However, if you keep your water high leading up to the show and the day of, you can still do this. Layne uses the same method.

if you look at the diet scivation provided CUT DIET.COM it will tell you that you can still drink water and to actually up your water consumption pre-show and then the day of the show, to not consume water. it's a little wierd but check it out

I have used the principle of overloading the system with water and then tapering to great effect, but I agree stopping water the day before a show is counter productive. As for food, the day Of the show, ive seen guys eat many pieces of bread and jam for breakfast, I personally have a full breakfast of cereals, eggs, bacon, I will then have 50 grams of carb every two hours and just before I go on will use a fast acting carbs( pre pump) I use as mixture of red wine, glycerine , water and creatine

Vascularity and dryness I would assume.

Red wine dehydrates me like nothing else.
