Stick with 10-12 or even higher without a doubt, you don't need all that much more stress at this time and you don't want to get an injury. Remember Dorian Yates? He trained too intense even pre contest, and look at all the injuries he got, it cost him his career, he had to retire. Good luck with your contest placing.

I lift like im offseason up to two weeks out. i meen, i dont train all that crazy heavy offseason, but sometimes i will go to 6 reps. at two weeks out i just go for blood volume, sometimes sets of 100 reps, crazy stuff like that. and then one week out im carb depleting and doing all that jazz.

i heard from ronnie that you burn a lot of calories of you lift heavy .. because you're body trying to pull or push the weight hard .. so it needs so much calories for that

THE BEST THING I HAVE FOUND FOR MYSELF IS TO KEEP THE WEIGHTS HEAVY AT ALL TIMES. THIS IS TRUE FOR ME DURING CONTEST TIME AS WELL. I TRAIN THE SAME YEAR ROUND ALL THE WAY UP TO 1 WEEK OUT FROM MY SHOW. I HAVE ONLY EXPERIENCE MUSCLE WAISTING AWAY WHEN I WENT LIGHTER ON A LOW CALORIE DIET WHILE DOING CONTEST PREP CARDIO. IT DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF DIET AND CARDIO PROGRAM YOU ARE ON AS WELL. I ACTUALLY GET A BIT STRONGER DURING CONTEST PREP. IF YOU WANT MORE DETAILS PM ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE. I WOULD BE HONORED TO SHARE ANYTHING I HAVE LEARNED OVER THE YEARS. LATER, ONESTRONGPIG
