I must state that doing this can adversely effect electrolytes and I personally would not use it just to get in shape, I would only use it to compete, but IMO, its far better than using diurectics.
5 days out before the show use 20litres of water. 4 days out, 15 litres, 3 days out 10 litres, 2 days 10 and ! day out five . day of the show just sip water. The theory is that because the body is saturated in water it goes into overdrive to remove it and youre body will continue to be in overdrive as you decrease the amount of water and continue to flush it out of your system till youre physique is ultra dry. Using saunas or even shaving to near the day of the show can cause the body top retain water in many people, but everybody is individual!

Take note on what moorey said.

But yeah, water manipulation can actually lead to less intramuscular water retention and more water outside, under the skin. Same applies to sodium manipulation. Water makes up 70% of your muscle, so you should keep it pretty high as the competition approaches then decrease it, like Jim said, lower and lower as show time is coming..

Your muscles won't look as full most likely.
