Hey everyone,
So I am thiking about competeing for my first time. I have read all the articles posted about eating, trainng etc. I have been serouisly lifting for about a yr now and I love it. I want to take about a yr to prepare for it. I am 16 so I do have school and connot completely devot all my time to it, but all time after school, and most time on weekends can be unless I am at work. Anyway I also race downhill mountain bikes. I was wondering how that plays into training for a show. When should I do my cardio in preperation? I was thinking about 20 weeks out of the show to start getting really serouis about dieting and cardio. etc. Also if you know any good shows in the bay area let me know.

Thanks everyone!
any info will help!

First of all I want to wish you good luck and let you know that we are all here for you. I agree with the above post about starting cardio 20 weeks out if you are already lean. If you are a fatty like myself 20 weeks is O.K. 49:
It sounds like you have done some research but now its time to put it to use, Pack on as much mass as possible and get your diet in check now that way it wont be too hard when it comes time to prepare. Once again GOOD LUCK and let me know if you have any questions.

Hey everyone,
Thank you so much for the info so far. I am naturally pretty lean, mountain bike racing plays a huge role in that I train for that too. I am going to set aside a major part of my racing though next yr when it gets closer to comp. I am about 5'9.5 and weigh in at around 155-157. I was told yesterday that I have around 9-10% bf. For now I am gonna bulk, and try to bring in the areas I need, like upper leg, upper chest. Thanks for all the info I will keep you posted on whats going on.

Thanks!

There are always contests around the bay area so that shouldnt be too hard to find a contest near your area. Wish you the best of luck man! As long as you eat and train hard and keep a good diet you should do pretty good. Just hit those squats and incline presses to bring out those legs and chests and you should be good.

The one my friend is doing in the bay area is July 26 in Windsor, CA. Its a natural show and has a teen division. you will make great contacts ad learn a lot from your first show.
