Is it risky not to do a high carb day during pre-contest diet when u have to shed a valuable amount of fat yet ?

Cuz the metabolism slows down and only when u r getting very lean is good to add more high carb days preferably when the competition is sooner

Yea it is a trial an error process to see what works good for your body. I did really low carbs an it worked good for me, but might not for you. All i can say is you learn from your mistakes.

And it depends on your body and how strick you want your carbs to be also,, your attitude is going to change if you lower your carbs too fast. Just keep monitoring what your doing and keep your attitude in check and you should be ok..
