I plan on competing in september, and i want to get a good base tan so i just started tanning just recently, im using a stand up bed and the first time i went i went for 10 min and i got red across my back and my shoulders and i went again 4 days later and i burned again.. not severly or pealing or anything but im red and uncomftorable, im using a bronzer that was recomended at the tanning salon... but i dont want to burn... so starting next week im only going in for 4 min and im going to slowly up it to 11.. i think this will probably work better.... do u guys have any tips about tanning, on how long i should tan and how many times a week... thanks fellows appreciate it... and by the way do you guys have any idea about whats safer tanning beds or sun light outdoor tanning, because i heard its about the same and sun light might actually be worse

you should have started at like 5-7 minutes, then worked your way up from there.

dont start to high, its counterproductive

Hey bro, what show are you doing in Sept? Just curious because I'm also doing a show and wanted to see if it was the same one.

I have a recommendation, ask if they have beds with high UVB rays. You are LESS likely to burn and the tan is a deeper and darker one. Like I said though, less likely to burn, but you can still burn. The thing I like about these beds is the tan lasts longer but are more expensive to use. To start out though on any bed, I would go no more than 8 minutes and build up your base for about a two weeks, going four days a week. Then when you have developed your base, only twice a week still building up the minutes if able to afford it. My tanning place charges by minutes and different prices for different beds. This has worked for me though. Good luck!
