First off we all know that the Olypmia is politics. Even though politics play a huge role in placings (at least in my opinion) Ruhl was never complete enough in my eyes

was he a freak? Yes

But to nitpick his legs were never really there. I always felt his hams and glutes could have been tighter as well. Also weather his tris were genetically stunted or not they still were just never there. Much respect for Markus, just never did it for me

I think Ruhl rocks. he should at least beat Jay because jay looks terrrrrrrible compared to the other competitors in the olympia, yet somehow he won.

Ruhl is the man,He's my favorite bodybuilder.Agree with Zack about his triceps They just dont grow.
There even been a MD on sep 2007 where they had Ruhl and Warren taking an arm WO. Ruhl talked about his triceps problem and Warren about his biceps problem.Ruhl talked about the fact that his triceps has allways been a weak link.

As far as the waist thing,I've never paid attention to it.
Ruhl is the man and he is a true monster but as far as "Olympia" He is just not in proportion and not as dry as others.Also a big "problem"(If you can call it a problem) His shoulders are just to big and they really give you that unproportioned(I probably spelled it wrong) feeling as well as his legs but they do it due to lack in size.

His Tris are his almost only weak point and he does have some symetry everything is huge but he is "boxy".Square is what Im assuming judges mean when they say that.Its almost too much for his frame.I really believe if he came in 30 lbs lighter with all the definition he has he would have a better chance.

you may be right. However i think markus's problems are more genetics and the way he is proportioned. Coming in 30 lbs lighter may just make him a smaller version of himself and that wouldnt fly. I think he got as far as he did in bodybuilding simply because he is a freakazoid.

yeah, not like he didn't bust his ass in the gym, eat 4 kilos of rice a day, and put in the time and effort to get his physique or anything.

I was in no way implying that. I already mentioned i have alot of respect for markus. Ive seen his videos and even if i didn't, one look at the guy and you know it takes a **** load of hard work and sacrafice. My intentions were not to rip on the guy but rather point out the fact that i feel he wouldnt have placed as well if he came in thirty pounds lighter. The man has a massive amount of fans based solely on the fact that he is one of if not THE biggest bodybuilder ever to step on a stage and has left his mark on bodybuilding, that's for sure. I hope that clears things up

Ruhl was shortchanged, due to the subjectivity of the word "aesthetics" and the politics that word allows for.

essentially what I'm saing is, that people can throw around the word aesthetics as a reason for a bodybuilder to be inferior to another one that is more politically favored even when Ruhl blew Jay's and Ronnie's physique out of the water repeatedly.

Ruhl was amazing.

Wanted to give my two cents worth:

When i first started really getting into our little Addiction, i never paid attention to the list of O winners and always thought Ruhl had won a few here and there. Then when i looked into Mr. O stats i was shocked and kinda pissed that he hadn't even had one under his belt. I do agree with Zack tho in that some parts of his body were a little off come showtime but **** me look at the beast how could you not give him at least one???
