to get the protein out of regular foods to build that kind of muscle, he would have to eat massive portions.... he takes protein powder...

AND, in the news:
Nov 2 ' 07 - MM Pro Jason Powell has been signed on to promote Optimum Nutritions new 100% whey protein product line. The Houston personal trainer just spent four days shooting with the supplement company's advertising agency in Chicago. Jason will be competing at MM World in Hollywood.

From MuscleMania:
Diet changes:

I changed my meals from every three hours to every two hours, I increased my protein from about 385 grams to 465 grams a day, my carbs from 320 grams to 395 grams, and my fat from 60 grams to 85 grams. On top of this I started taking an additional two servings of flax and fish oils, 15 grams of creatine, and 20 grams of glutamine spread over three servings a day. I haven’t tried any other supplementation and don’t really plan on it. But I am certainly open to any of you guys comments on the subject.

Just another "Natural" that wants to claim to have genetics sent straight from the gods. And really MuscleMania? Come on, if you are gonna preach natural then try an org. that tests strictly and regularly.

I would never say he wasn't natural, I compete naturally and wouldn't want anyone slighting me. However, I will say that supps are a big help for nattys and most, if not all, would use protein and creatine to supplement the massive amounts you'd have to eat otherwise.

465 grms of protein a day would be huge food intake, I mean massive. I'm getting anywhere from 250 to 275 and some days I feel like I don't stop eating. So getting 48 to 62 grms from shakes is great and then another 22 - 30 grms from a protein bar.

Also look at the effect of taking extra BCAAS in. You just can't deny supps help and anything that helps naturally would be welcomed by any natural bodybuilder.

Just my opinion of course.

Actually, I do take protein powders...I guess when I was typing that post below, I didn't add it, or I was mis-quoted...

I take a shake in the morning and one at night on top of my regular daily intake. I eat every two hours and it is usally 10 oz 98% lean beef, 1 1/2 serving brown rice, green beans and some salsa. That is my primary meal choice while I am at work...outside of that, I eat the usual chicken, egg whites, tilapia and so on.

Supplements...I decided last December to start taking Aminos...I use ON's Super Amino 2222 (2 pills thre times a day).

I am certainly open to all of you guys comments and suggestions...I am also starting a website in the next two weeks...input is welcome!

Also, to answer the gentleman below...I have been tested at least twice a year since my first show in Nov 1997. I am a professional in the NGA, FAME and MM. I have passed every test (urine and poly) along the way and several private tests from individuals challenging my being natural...my standard statement is..."Any test, any time...just call and arrange for the test...I will be there within a few hours...or have them coem to me unexpected".

No... I was about 170 lbs when I started. I gained about 2 - 3 pounds a month for a few months and then about 5 to 10 a year after that... I am about to launch a personal website which will have progression photos and video from back then to now.

Thank you for the post...here is the direct link to a very recent shoot...minus the www

optimumnutrition.com/lifestyleonline/spring08/

I am on the cover and sprinkled throughout the magazine.
