to get the protein out of regular foods to build that kind of muscle, he would have to eat massive portions.... he takes protein powder...

AND, in the news:
Nov 2 ' 07 - MM Pro Jason Powell has been signed on to promote Optimum Nutritions new 100% whey protein product line. The Houston personal trainer just spent four days shooting with the supplement company's advertising agency in Chicago. Jason will be competing at MM World in Hollywood.

From MuscleMania:
Diet changes:

I changed my meals from every three hours to every two hours, I increased my protein from about 385 grams to 465 grams a day, my carbs from 320 grams to 395 grams, and my fat from 60 grams to 85 grams. On top of this I started taking an additional two servings of flax and fish oils, 15 grams of creatine, and 20 grams of glutamine spread over three servings a day. I haven’t tried any other supplementation and don’t really plan on it. But I am certainly open to any of you guys comments on the subject.

Just another "Natural" that wants to claim to have genetics sent straight from the gods. And really MuscleMania? Come on, if you are gonna preach natural then try an org. that tests strictly and regularly.

I would never say he wasn't natural, I compete naturally and wouldn't want anyone slighting me. However, I will say that supps are a big help for nattys and most, if not all, would use protein and creatine to supplement the massive amounts you'd have to eat otherwise.

465 grms of protein a day would be huge food intake, I mean massive. I'm getting anywhere from 250 to 275 and some days I feel like I don't stop eating. So getting 48 to 62 grms from shakes is great and then another 22 - 30 grms from a protein bar.

Also look at the effect of taking extra BCAAS in. You just can't deny supps help and anything that helps naturally would be welcomed by any natural bodybuilder.

Just my opinion of course.

Actually, I do take protein powders...I guess when I was typing that post below, I didn't add it, or I was mis-quoted...

I take a shake in the morning and one at night on top of my regular daily intake. I eat every two hours and it is usally 10 oz 98% lean beef, 1 1/2 serving brown rice, green beans and some salsa. That is my primary meal choice while I am at work...outside of that, I eat the usual chicken, egg whites, tilapia and so on.

Supplements...I decided last December to start taking Aminos...I use ON's Super Amino 2222 (2 pills thre times a day).

I am certainly open to all of you guys comments and suggestions...I am also starting a website in the next two weeks...input is welcome!

Also, to answer the gentleman below...I have been tested at least twice a year since my first show in Nov 1997. I am a professional in the NGA, FAME and MM. I have passed every test (urine and poly) along the way and several private tests from individuals challenging my being natural...my standard statement is..."Any test, any time...just call and arrange for the test...I will be there within a few hours...or have them coem to me unexpected".

No... I was about 170 lbs when I started. I gained about 2 - 3 pounds a month for a few months and then about 5 to 10 a year after that... I am about to launch a personal website which will have progression photos and video from back then to now.

Thank you for the post...here is the direct link to a very recent shoot...minus the www

optimumnutrition.com/lifestyleonline/spring08/

I am on the cover and sprinkled throughout the magazine.

Not to be biased but i trained with jason and yes he is natural. I trained with others that are not and Jason does not have the mentality or personality of hardcore gym rats.

He has been nothing but straight up honest with me on any question I have asked him with no reserves. The guy doesn't even cuss for sh*t sakes..haha.

He has been an athlete since 5 years old (martial arts), powerlifting, mma, and a former marine of which he served active combat.

The one thing you can accuse him of is....too much posing. The guy will pose at a drop of a dime. No seriously. He'll stop and pose...he's not shy...ask him...he'll do that all day. Hahaha.

And ...um..yea..I still owe him $125

I think he is refering to the stereotype...there are always variables as I have had training partners and clients that don't fit that mold.
I have always stood on the model of anytime...there are SO many mobile testing units our there, all a "doubter" has to do is call them up, send them out and I will do any test...urine, blood, hair, whatever. I just need enough notice to make sure I am there...maybe 30 minutes.
I like your sig banner though!

Definitely nothing against you man.You say you are natural then i believe you 100%.I just wish i could look like you lol and Im not natural lol.I think I knew what he meant but all guys on gear dont grunt loud and get crazy in the gym and then again some guys who dont use do it all the time so it just wasnt the right thing to say.

Without debating...I trained with 2 previously that were juice lovers. I'm not into it....not by moral or sense of good judgment....it's that there are few I find as role models that used it. The first guy was 1st cousin to the former wife of a convicted Pro bodybuilder. The other a young amateur trying to make a name for himself. Both had life styles that were fast and wild. Excessive lifestyle with other drug usage.

Jason didn't exhibit these traits so I could trust him in my training without distractions. Also, thanks for your honesty. It takes a lot of self respect to honestly state you try it. Wish more would be direct and not afraid to state their standings on the subject.
