dont quote me on this but i think its due to evolution and diet as well as natural environment settings. i mean most oriental ancestors would have consisted of farmers and their diets mostly being from plants and stuff and what not with the area not being industrialised by the 1800's where as the western world was already using machinery and what not which would have involved physical labour and such, especially with making new buildings or whatever.

again, dont quote me on that, just a guess.
