are we are we not??? we are always concerned about how we look and how others see us....something i noticed at mm is that there’s a few who post pics of themselves in every thread looking for comments on their body....

i wouldt be surprised if the pros carry a little posing mirror in their fanny packs..

this is not to bash anyone .. !

Interesting topic,pain!
A lot are insecure, and I think most started because they felt insecure. There are also a lot of guys who suffer some kind of reversed anorexia. But there are also very confident bodybuilders. To be honest, I think it is best to have other kind of hobbies/things going on in your life besides bodybuilding. Because when your progress is going bad, or you had to skip a meal/workout you will feel really bad if bodybuilding is the only thing in your life.

I wonder what other people have to say about this subject.

I can relate with the whole feeling bad after having a bad workout, but hey I just take each workout as it comes, and its not about what weight you lift, BUT HOW YOU LOOK!

It definitly is about how you look, but for some reason I, and I guess a lot of other people as well, feel smaller when they think they're not strong.

I think strength is a relative thing. You could be weak for mnay reason, for me its usually not eating enough calories before a workout, sometimes it could be you havn't had enough recovery. You just have to swallow your ego I guess.

This is one of the many reasons I prefer Blood & Guts to all other BB's vids.
Sure Dorian does a minimal amount of posing after some lifts but really not that much. It's like he know's what he looks like. With or w/out a pump. No need for exessive mirror gazing. Alot of others' vids, man they spend way too much time after each set gazing, critiqueing, admiring whatever...IMO of course.

This is quite interesting. The way i see it is like looking at modifying cars. Some people prefer the brute strength of a car so when they roll upto a fully kitted out boy racer and rinse them off the line in their shoddy sierra packed with enough nos to blow a hole in the tarmac, they feel like they've succeeded.

However on the other hand you have the show offs who make the looks the main thing. They may not pack much under the hood but they sure do pull in the eyes. They win the competitions and get in the mags. (main aim of bodybuilding surely?)

However the pro's have both and thats what makes them special!!!

Not here. I started this because I dont like to look fat and this will help get slim again. Why would I be insecure? I dont care if someone doesnt like how I look when I am talking to a stick boy. Now I'm not jay cutler mind you but when I curl my arm, the tricep is not the one that bulges down by itself

Wow, exactly correct! I've been having severe wrist pain and all my pressing and curling movements have suffered big time..I already took 2 weeks off to try to get my wrist better and now its been 3 weeks and my wrist hurts just as much.

I have been in a crappy mood all week because of this and i really need to get my mind on something else..

If bodybuilders where insecure i don't think they would be getting up on stage in front of hundreds of people in a speedo. Maybe people start working out because they are insecure with the way they look, but in order to compete I believe one must have to be pretty secure about the way they look. Insecurity would make someone want to cover themselves up, hiding their flaws, as apposed to exposing themselves on stage. And I think that excessive posing in front of a mirror has more to do with being vain than insecure.

lol hell no, bodybuilders are just perfectionists and pretty damn self-centered (myself included)

The pros are always looking for a chance to take of their shirt, I would hardly call that insecure.
