IMO, female bodybuilding/Ms. Olympia should adopt the standards of Figure, a much more profitable division of the IFBB. This way Figure can "become" female bodybuilding. With much more realistic criterias, the women won't have to pump themselves full of sh*t to make scraps! Leave that to us Men, we're smart that way. |
I know that those are figure chicks(not bb). The reason I picked that picture was to get people to look at the link. If I had picked the picture of Kim Chizevsky/Lenda Murray...fewer people would have looked, guaranteed. Guess I just proved your point that women's bb isnt marketable and figure is. lol
I understand what you are saying, and I agree that women's bb isnt marketable/profitable. However, from a woman's point of view. It gets old having men dictate what women should say/do/act like/dress like/look like etc. I have played sports for the majority of my life. I played soccer in college and that was "ok" because in the US, soccer is popular a woman's sport ever since Brandi Chastain took off her shirt at the 1999 World Cup. Now, "hot chicks play volleyball and soccer." I have also played on a pro tackle football team and despite the fact that most of the women on my team are very feminine in looks and action...we still hear all the time that "women shouldnt play football". People also think that everyone on our team must be a lesbian, which is also untrue.
I think the things I mentioned above are similar to what Female BBs deal with. They devote just as much time/energy/love to their sport as the men but get beat up for it, or loved for it depending on what men think is "ok". Standards are constantly changing and they are being told what they should and shouldnt do. Regardless, money talks and thats all that matters, I wouldnt doubt that the sport will disappear. I personally dont have any desire to look like that so it doesnt matter to me, but I think it is an interesting point of discussion. God, I sound like such a freaking hippie feminist. lol
In addition, You spoke of realistic criterias, but is it really "realistic" for the male BBs to look the way they do?
