The net force
on our bodies when doing squats almost doubles the force that we're struggling to exert to get the weight up! Hence why squats make you feel like your intestines are about to come out of your ass.
Look here (Σ = sum of; summation):
ΣFg (force of gravity on the barbell) = M(our masses) x A(acceleration of gravity, which = 9.81 m/s)
Input the mass (in kg's) of the barbell and weight on it into the equation, multiply it by 9.81, and that's the force you must overcome in order to get the weight up. And considering bodybuilder's try to perform a rep with a constant acceleration (or motion upward, in this case), it makes the ability to overcome the ΣFg
much harder; a mathematical constant that would need to be added to the equation for x amount of weight.
Cool, right!
I'm a geek. But I don't mind.
