I just weighed my self and came in at a hefty 195.8 pounds. I am about 5'8. I am going to work my ass of until I reach my goal of 175. I will need to change my diet and routine completely. I was wondering what you all think about the Body for life routine for someone in my position? I am just looking to cut. And also when is the best time to run or do cardio? Before or after lifting? And I heard some where that it should be around 12 hours before of after lifting, is there much truth to this statement?
Thank you in advance.

Thats just it I have been out of the game for about a year. So I really have none. I did recently go back to eating well. Eating every 3-5 hours, lots of water, milk, nuts, veggies, fruits, and lean meat, also eggs and eggwhites.

Cleaned up my diet, big time. Not just low fat, but high fiber. No juice, but whole fruit, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, yada yada.

important: I lifted before breakfast, and did cardio (30 minutes) immediately after. Then went to work and had my first food. (low fat cottage cheese, whole wheat whatever, some fruit,) protein snack mid morning.

You'll lose weight!

^ alot of people debate if fasted lifting/cardio is beneficial or not, and so far im pretty sure there is no solid answer to this. some people like fasted workouts, other dont. its personal preference. i do fasted cardio sometimes, but cant imagine fasted lifting. i tihnk i would pass out

It was more accident than plan, but that made a better test.

I used to 40
do 50 mins cardio (sometimes much longer if biking in New York) before First Food, office all day; then lift at night. It worked more or less.

Later I had to lift AMs. So cardio was 20- 30 minutes after the lift and I lost more pudge than I thought possible. Later a trainer confirmed if a hard burst (lift) is followed by slower measure burst (cardio) it will achieve greater results/fat loss. The proof was in the pudding. Well, the loss of the pudding.

I dont where you heard the 12 hr waiting period for cardio. That dont make alot of sense. You can do cardio directly after working out Maybe not on leg day or you can be of the belief that fasted cardio is good and do it in the morning.Hell just do it lol

Just do cardio. If you eat enough you will still gain weight. I started swimming last fall. I cut my weight training to 3 days per week and swam 2 hours a week. I lost bodyfat and gained 15lbs in one semester. Go figure.
