I joined the gym only last saturday and i was able to go 3 times in the last week
i have a busy life with working and currently doing my A-levels, i am trying to go for 3 hours every night with friday and saturday as rest days, i dont know what to do, anyone here in the same situation and feels as though they cant get to the gym as much as they would want to because of other factors in their life?

Unless your juciing, you really don't need to be in the gym 3 hours a day 5 days a week.

lol and even if you are juicing its still not recommend to spend that much in the gym.

if your short on time look into doing push/pull/legs, or something similar to DC training. both types of training will have you out of the gym in a hour and still make quality gains.

Yes I think that wokouts shouldnt last longer than 45min to 60 min. There was a study showing thats when hormones peaked during physical activity. Anything after that your body goes into recovery mode.

You are going to the gym 15 hours a week and you're worried about NOT going ENOUGH?! That's 3 times too much. What could you possibly be doing for 3 hours at a time in the gym? Is that cardio and weight training? You only need 4-5 hours of weight training a week. And cardio, depending on your goals and body type. Post your routine for us so we can see exactly what you are doing for 3 hours at a time and then we can go from there. Also, what are your current stats (bodyfat, weight, goals, experience, etc.)?

Not enough? Try too much, unless your goal is to only cut. 3 hours is too long.

Remember, you don't grow when you train. You grow when you recover (and eat). Unless you are consuming good protien and carbs while training, your body is likely going catabolic during your training session.

Also, if you're training 5 days per week, I would assume you are working some kind of split. If you can train a bodypart for 3 hours, you are not training heavy enough.

Juicing means using steroids, DC is doggcrapp training and is a style of training.

Get a routine in order instead of flying blindly.

if you do the same volume of work of an hr and a half workout and squeeze it into 45 mins you can spend less time in the gym and more time eating and sleeping you will see the gains you want...

I used to do 2 hour workouts, but then I realized I was resting TOO MUCH between sets and body parts. Now my workouts go 1 hour a day 5 days a week and seldom do I rest more than 30 to 45 seconds between sets- bring a watch if you have to and get yourself into this discipline. Never talk to anyone other than positive hand gestures... tell them afterward you can phone me/ meet me but not while you are focusing!

I saw a chinese javelin thrower in the gym a few weeks ago and he was doing HUGE sets of squats, talking 100kg for 50-100 reps. This guy pushes some massive weights too, but he was throwing his guts up all over the place... I was kind enough too point out the bin too him though. That was after an hour, not 3, so I reckon self combustion would occur. Thats just a hunch tho :)

Ditto to the other comments here. 45 min to an hour, 3x a week should be enough to give you results.
