guys, not everybody wants to go balls to the wall man. the gym is not meant only for people that want to sh*t out a terd while doing leg press and pop a vein.

however, these are common excuses i hear

oh, i'm bulking........an excuse as to why they're 99% bodyfat and not cutting lol.

i don't want my legs to get bulky.......an excuse not to train legs hard. this guy is a football player by the way.

i want to always see my christmas tree back........an excuse why that 110lbs guy won't bulk. true story.

i don't want to get big i just want to stay in shape........an excuse why my friend won't bench press with his elbows in instead of totally flared out.

there are plenty of other ones.

i can respect somebody that doesn't want to go 100% but if they're being really half-assed, they won't see results and most of the people who don't do squats/deadlifts or train hard are the same damn people complaining about how they can't get bigger. and then they take a long break from the gym, come back and see how big you got in the last few months and won't talk to you cuz they're so pissed off they look the same.

The fact that you get down to the gym and work out means SOOOOO much more than not even getting down there in the first place...

there's a difference between having a legit reason like working long hours or school and homework or in my case both... and an excuse, an excuse is just a cop out, and for many guys in my gym that don't do legs b/c the ladies don't see their legs... same guys that are wearing sweatpants in the gym in the summer time b/c of their chicken legs

I've heard excuses but nothing unusual. I always remember complainers. Girls saying they can't or it's too hard. Usually when doing curls with dumbbells. I seriously doubt 2.5 lbs in each hand is too hard for you.

Don't honestly hear much, people just do their thing, whether with good form or bad, they just workout. At YMCA I hear people giving tons of advice to people, i've gotten some too like back when i was hack squatting a lot, doing full stack of 400, some dude told me i was doing it too heavy. OK riiiiiiiiight. If my form is good, screw you ok, buddy? Other times i was cable rowing and dude told me to lean back at the hips, helps bring more weight up. I just stared at him till he walked away... silence.

I don't like talking to people when i'm in the gym.

you gotta love these ones...

1-newbies who try to give you pointers that are absolute b/s, (like saying they're doing hundreds of light reps for the ultimate hypertrophy)

2-people from work etc. who give you pointers when they have clearly never trained a day in their life.

Some honest answers and some very commendable schedules.

Everybody is different.

Unfortunately, I can't sleep less than 8 hours. My energy levels really suffer.

And going 100% at the gym week after week only resulted in stagnation and injury for myself. Intensity cycling has solved this problem.

Like others have said, BBing is my hobby, I have never been good at strength sports (average genetics), I don't take any drugs and I'm working full time whilst studying for my chartered accountancy qualification.

I love BBing but I'm much more controlled now than I was. More of a passion than an obsession. My personal life really suffered when I was fully concentrated for BBing and honestly, it wasn't worth it.

Great excuse everyone has heard from girls:

-No I don't want to lift weights because I don't want to get huge or big muscles.

Sweetheart if it was that easy every guy down this gym now would be huge like Arnold. And I can assure you those girls in the magazines do resistance training.

Some of you guys say you don't like form pointers in your workout..I saw a guy doing lat pull downs the other day he was almost leaning back horizontal then launching back vertically repeatedly..didn't know if I should have said bro youre gonna **** your back in about a week if you keep that up..or the guys doing barbell bicept curls and rocking the f*ck out of their backs..

Please people if you ever see me doing something like that please pull me aside and educate me!!

It's weird. I just go to the gym and concentrate on my workout and goals, but i do like watching people and listening to them talk about excuses and stuff. A lot of times it helps drive me, other times its entertainment. Especially the quite nicely looking females.

I love it when people say they have no time to work out.

I'm a full time college student, i work full time as a prep-cook/cook in training, and I still manage to work out an hour a day five days a week.

I make lifting my priority. People at school ask me why i carry around a gallon jug of water, and why there are so many pills in my Animal Pak. People at work make fun of me for bringing my protein shaker.

It's the life I choose to live and I love it.

Im a full time college student and a full time firefighter and if i can find time to get to the gym then most people should be able to also. It does help that i work one 24 on and get 48 hours off though. I hardly ever talk to anybody at the gym, my training partner even quit after about three months cause "i was too intense for him". no complaints from me though, it got me working out with my girlfriend who now wants to compete in a figure contest.

"i go to school and i have to study afterwards and consider it work so i don't put 100% in my workouts and if i don't do deadlifts chances are i have family problems at home" that is a load of bull**** excuse. EVERYBODY goes to school at one point and most of the time they have a job as well. I just had to shake my head and sigh when i saw that post.

1) I don't do squats because I have bad knees (I find it strange that the same people who say this then go on the leg press, loag it up with weight then barely bend there knees)

I dont know if my knees are bad.. but i hear alot of snapping and crackling whenever i do squats ^^ ive asked why.. they just say.. Keep doing squats and your knees will get used to it and stop.. Keep em moving ^^

welcome buddy, its called pain push through lol. You should hear mine after a 6 mile run and then walking up a flight of stairs, youd swear it was a bowl of rice krispies with a microphone next to it lol. Pain comes with this territory, and weird noises lol

Omg i love these story time posts!!! Ok so in january i was at the gym and i always noticed this guy in there working out. But i NEVER saw him work out his back. So that day i approached him and asked him if he works out his back.

His Reply!!!
"Man look in the mirror can you even see your back? Of course not so why worry about it... Plus its not like its gonna help me with anything anyways."

My reaction...
Took off my shirt did a double bi pose and flared my lats...

His reaction...
"Man how did you get so massive my upper body is only half your size!"

My reaction...
Im not a retard who only works out the muscles he can see and girls think are sexy. I train for over all size and strength.

His final reaction...
"Oh whatever i can get that big without working out my back."
