I know this is going to sound like a whiney post...Ive been trying to loose some major weight. I started out at 291 and now I am at 242. I am blasting out some major workouts and I can see a big change in strength and stamina....Im still stoked about working out, cant get enough of it actually, but when you guys are trying to cut or diet how do you stay motivated for so long. LOL Im losing control . I ate 1/2 a pizza yesterday and was still hungry an hour later..so I ate a jethro bowl of cherry ice cream. Man the shat was good lol. I was so pissed at my self. I went and did legs today and actually puked after my work out. How do you guys stay so motivated all the time?

You have to stay focused. See the goal and work toward it.. I'm not even training since this is my final week of Essentials and I have no time for the weight room.. I have to eat good and do my running ( 30 mins ) when i can..

I get motivated with the Sun comes out and the girls are wearing less. Sad to say, but I'm a guy and that's how I roll..

Keep with it man..

If you stay consistent you will probably find that you become desensitized to those foods to the point where pizza doesn't smell good. At least that was my experience. Find healthy ways to make your foods that are on your diet taste better. Check out Walden Foods.

Allow yourself a cheat day once a week dont over do it but it will help cure cravings and keep your metabolism high.
Those changes you see are enough to keep me motivated.Keep a before picture with you and look at it when you want ice cream.I am on a seriuos cutting diet right now my show is in 4 weeks,im starving right now cant eat for another hour.I keep looking at myself and seeing how far I have come yet knowing I have that much further to go to be the best on that stage in few weeks.
Sometimes I get pissed when i see people eating whatever they want but then I size up the way they look against the way i look.Ha Ill stick to my diet lol

this is a hard question to answer for people in general because different things motivate different people. my biggest thing is i tell myself "do it." like if i feel like skipping a workout or not finishing a meal, i tell myself "do it"(pretty self explanatory), cause whats the worst thats gonna happen. its all about mental toughness for me.

another thing ive heard, is visualize your goals. example- see yourelf as a ripped, brolic beast and it might help you keep on track better because youll want it more.

Allways keep your target in mind. Everytime you feel like giving up remind yourself where you started and where you wanna go and what does it take to get there.
quiting is throwing away everything you accompilshed till now..All those workouts all that pain and damn food..Quiting means all you've done till now was a waste of time.
Think about each meal each workout as another step towrds your target..

When you drive your car to a long distance You dont stop the car in the middle of the road and just go home telling yourself "The hell with this...I have alot to go...I rather turn and go home"

Also you can cheat now and then...Once a week...Once every ten days...But dont go crazy and eat a hole pizza and drink 5 gallons of coke

Stay focused Remember you target
good luck!

What I do is when im feeling down or when I feel like im going to break my diet I just focus on my goal and how the sacrifces im making will lead me only to greatness. Now its tough...and breaking can sometime happen but if you break your diet often just go for something that is not that bad such as popcorn or pizza which isnt neccisarily that bad or you can pick up either hoodia (Herbal hunger suppressent) or a carb blocker.

Tonys spot on, keep it under control, have the cheat meal once a week, this isnt about doing something to look good for summer, its about you regaining the way you want to look, it could take many months and this is a lifestyle, you dont have to live like a monk, train like a professional, just take a step back, cycle your intensity, have a treat once a week and itll fall into place and when you reach your desired weight, youll be able to keep it, rather than going flat out, denying yourself everything, getting resentful, demotivated and drifting back into your old lifestyle!

Sounds like you might be letting your self get hungery then giving in to your cravings. You probably got hungery an hour after eating th epizza cuase most pizza dosnt have a heck of a lot of protein in and its simple carbs and no fibre. Check you diet make sure you eating often enough. Getting enough complex carbs and fibre and of course protein. Im a salty person and love chips for me I seem to luck out when i go down that aisle in the grocery store if im thinking of cheating cause theres always some fat ass person there, im like thankyou god and turn around and leave. All good ideas above to. For me I find the only time i end up cheating is when i let myself get hungery. Its usually the space between lunch and dinner. Since I know this I make sure so drink a protein shake about about an hour before i know im going to be hungery and driving home( esp since i pass 2 of the best gourmet pizza places in the city). If you can taget the time this usually happens for you can tweak your diet so your not tempted.

If you deny youself something in the end it becomes the focus of your attention., the be and end all of everything, having a cheat meal will do you no harm at all, it still control, but keeps you sane and speed s the metabolic rate up. For my next comp, im working with former world champ matt thompson, we intend having a day when I will eat a cheat meal right up to the last stages of my diet!

good call islander, most cravings are the body screaming for protein or carbs. so basically, feed your body but please make the right choices. you'll thank your self in the end. cheat meals are great for your sanity but they will get old and tasteless when bbing becomes your lifestyle. providing thats where you want to go in life.

tnfirefighter you're starting to see that dieting is 70% and working out is the easy part.

for me, i have a low carb, low sugar protein drink followed by some rice cakes or air popped popcorn to control my need to munches.

hang in there, cuz there is a huge support group right here. good luck.
