I was going to be competing soon and was wondering about sponsorships. Is that something a gym will only consider once you have already placed well in contests before? Any one that is sponsored or knows about this help me out.

thank you

pretty much it's something people will consider if they know you or know of you and you've shown something to them that they feel that they can back.

Nicks right, but youve got to sell yourself, offer something different, tell them about yourself, the obstacles youve overcome, what your aspirations are in your chosen sport. Some people get sponsorship without competing because they have that great potential. LBJ for instance has the amazing stats to be a top world performer when he takes to the stage, so he would be given sponsorship on his potential!

I cant speak on bodybuilding sponsorship but i can about getting them from my local cricket club. Like the guys above me said we had to sell our club to them, and show them what we had to offer. ie. signs at every game, sponsors name on playing clothes etc etc. I can be a very tiring thing to do but rewarding in the end when you see the $$$ coming in from your sponsors

we put together a resume so to speak of our club listing our history, pictures of the ground we play at and what types of sponsorships we where after. I think that you may need to do something similar and not be soley concentrating on getting $$$ from a sponsor

wrong bud, cant speak on behalf of bodybuilding, but i can of wakeboarding. straight up i needed to get some comps down and set a name for myself before they even regarded me as a team rider, once i did they knew how well i did with pressure and that i was, in their words, "extremely determined to succeed". they then started me off not with a full sponsership because i was young, but with a partial (meaning i got discounts on clothes and riding equiptment, etc) wasnt a full time rider just yet but i was part of their "team". 4 years went by and finally got to be a full sponsered team member after placing 2nd at the collegiate nationals last year.

sorry guys.

I was going off of what a few of my friends had happen. They didn't compete before they were sponsored. They just showed great potential and went to gyms and supp stores and got them to sponsor them. I dunno how they did it, but it worked
