I need to hear from some of you who have done cutting in the past. How much do you alter your workouts for cutting. I know that cutting involves cardio, but how much? Do you continue your same routine, but add heavy cardio? Do you do lighter weights with more reps and intensity plus cardio? What are some of your recommendations or successful experiences. Thanks guys.

when im cutting i usually lessen the really heavy duty excercies and really focus on shaping the muscle and i add 45 minutes of cardio a day and on rest days ( wednesday and sunday) i usually go into the gym for 45 minutes to an hour for cardio. also i alter my diet. I dont eat more than 1600 calories a day and i cut carbs to a bare minimum and totally cut out sugar and unhealthy fats

-here are my cutting principles i like to follow and it has worked well for others. different ratios and strategies will definately work!

1.) i take in as many as calories as my RMR.(resting metabolic rate). which comes to around 1900 to 2100 a day.
2.) i eat 5 to 6 small meals a day.
3.) i keep my protein high, carbs are moderate to low, and my fats are low. *low carb, moderate fat intake definately works also. switch it up a bit, but always keep that protein high! rarely gets stored as bodyfat as long as ur not eating a shit ton o calories in one meal!
4.) i weight train 4 times a week and add cardio through the following weeks. if i am losing weight, i don't do any cardio. when i stop lookin lean, i add cardio progressively. 30 to 45 min on the bike or treadmill, low to moderate intensity.
5.) i keep a cheat meal in there once a week to keep me sane!!!! lol sometimes 2...if i have 2, i up that damn cardio the next day or 2! hope this helped. later bro

-also lower rest periods in between sets and a little more volume in your workouts helps. definitely lets your body burn off more calories for that particular workout. i like to do supersets and dropsets more when i am cutting. keeps my heart rate up in the "fat burning" zone.
