So I was reading Scivation's road to 5% log and he mentioned Kurt Weidner. I googled him for fun and I already have my screensaver desktop pics of him [they scroll when the computer is inactive, that's my screensaver]. He's ripped as fuck, very admirable.

Anyway, I followed links to his website and then to his google.videos and I saw one where I think he's using improper form. I know everyone drills into you to keep the form good but I see tons of people in the gym, much better built than I am, swinging weights, doing cheats and partials [partials have their place I know, but I think they were even doing those wrong too]. Aren't you depriving the specific body part you're trying to work from all of it's mass potential when you cheat or swing the weight to get it up? That's what I always thought.

So here's that video
barbell_curls-drop_set.MOV
I see him leaning back to get the weight up, taking the pressure away from his arms... why is he doing that?

Also, he has no rest between his sets... I thought you were supposed to rest 25 + seconds before doing another set to let the muscles recover a little bit?

he could be preparing for a contest and trying to carb deplete and burn all possible glycogen stores in the muscle, most people incorporate drop sets and cheat curls to achieve this.

Cosign, there called Cheating curls.. a necessary evil to gaining mass. But not all the time-- mind you--.

He's not cheating all that bad either, I have witness much much worse.

he's using the overload principle. weider may have written it down but i believe that other bber's developed it. its where you take more than you can lift with good form and cheat the first part of the rep but at the most critical point of the movement good form is forced. this is also called hitting the sweet spot, just like in other sports lifting wts there is a sweet spot for developing muscle. advanced bber's know how to hit their sweet spot for a max work and pump. it takes years for bber's to find how to hit it.

I've never heard it called the sweet spot.

This has been asked a few times. People can get stronger using bad form but you risk injury. Most people who use bad form do so for there ego so they can lift heavier. You can drop your form in some exercises like bicep curls. Do as many reps as you can with good form then you could do a couple more with a bit of a swing to get the weight moving.
I would say in most cases you are better to use good form to reduce the risk of injury. Even if you just get a minnor injury it could stop you from training.

I didnt find his form that bad, probably towards the end of each dropset, dropsets are sick for a pump! At that point of his set his arms are gonna be knackered anyway. I just think he used it as a way to really kill em off!
