i have a bahai friend who goes to gym with me once a week and he is fasting now for 19 days. im Muslim myself but i would never fast or anything like that i think really hard on your body, i see this guy in the gym sweating and like passing out but cant drink water so i told him not to come to gym with me till his fasting is over. im not sure if there are ppl in this forum that fasts for their religious beliefs? any way what do you guys think on this issue? im sure that fasting is not a good think, you lose muscle, energy, your brain needs glucose if thats too low you start hallucinating, you become more aggressive. and etc tell me what you think

I put my health above everything, I didn't use to but I do now. I don't think I could do it, regardless of my beliefs.

The brain will get the glucose don't worry about that, it will metabolize muscle in order to get it. I have a friend who fasts for a month everyyear, but he works out at night when he is allowed to eat, I think its at sunset until sun rise.

It's not the safest thing to do to workout while not eating. If they have a religious reason, they will fast, I just don't really believe in fasting to "clense the body of toxins"

^^^ Ahh ok, last thing I always tell him to eat is something slow digesting with a good deal of protein to limit how much actual time he goes without protein in his body.

Fasting is the kinda time where I would even suggest ketosis, the actual protein requirments on the body drop. And its easier to resist hunger.
