dude I do 5 days a week and then one day off and then go back to a another 5 day cycle. It's not overtraining if you split ur body parts up.

1- chest
2- back
3-arms
4-delts
5-legs
6-off
7-repeat

just throw in some traps and calves here and there and u'll be fine.

Depends how your body recovers. Make sure you're training the appropriate body part on the appropriate day. Avoiding overtraining as much as possible.

i train 5 days a week

but like these guys have said, it depends on your split, what you're eating for recovery, and how your body genetcially recovers.

agree it depends on your bodys recovery time. I hit it 5 days a week and each muscle only once a week. If you have a lagging muscle than yes twice a week may benifit you just make sure its nothing like setting up bis, back and then hitting bis again. Give the muscle your hitting twice a week enough time to recover.

Well, doesn't it matter a lot which parts he's training? I mean he could train 5 days if each day was something different, right?

He can, but you have to remember that some muscles are used as secondary lifters in some movements, like when you do bench you obviously use your tris, therefor you have to be careful how you split up the body parts so as to try not to train the same muscle two days running
