Welp, I headed to the gym after work like I always do and to my suprise the gym was ridiculously packed. I couldn't even find parking for like 5 goddamn mins and I was thinking to myself. Are they having a special event at the gym? Did someone famous appear? Then to my disgust and dissapointment I finally saw what the commotion was once I stepped onto the gym floor.
It's f*cking Noob season!
Apparently noob season has started early this year. Noob season is the special time when my gym gets an influx of new signups who want to get in shape for beach season in a couple of months. Keep in mind I live in the northeast where its cold from october to early march. The noobs come in all shapes and sizes, mostly in the shape of teens and the people who are in the midst of experiencing their midlife crisis.

The teens- (Im not knocking the young guys on this forum who are dedicated to the sport) They come in groups or cliques and basically annoy the regulars at the gym. They hang around around the same area and you think they are working out but they are really not. One kid was standing on two dumbells like he was riding a skateboard. So one of the regulars took the dumbells away and told him it wasnt a toy finger pointing to the chest and all. I mean this is a gym, its not a playground for you to break OUR equipment that we are in short supply of as is. This is the many stupid things teen noobies do either impress their friends or impress the regulars. Every exercise they do is a dropset. They bench heavy weights in which they are no shape to do without the help of a spotter even though the guy has friends around him. Yesterday some teen benched without the use of clips and the weights fell on each side, almost injuring people. One of the trainers scolded them immensly for that. They workout everypart of their body thinking they will get huge overnight. Last year, some kid asked me for advice for biceps and I gave him some methods. Then his friend comes along and pretty much contradicts whatever I said, saying he read this and read that and your not supposed to do it this way yadda yadda yadda basically implying that hes an expert. Then I proceeded to rolled up my sleeves and showed my forearms and said, "My forearms themselves are bigger than his biceps, who are you gonna believe me or him? God this pisses me off. They don't put weights back, they don't do proper form, they don't follow safety rules. They chat the majority of the time which pretty much wastes their workout. I f*cking hate them. Now to the old people.

The old people- They are the ones that do one set on a machine and sit there for 15 mins looking around or bullshitting with other old people. You could probably take a small nap by the time you have a chance on getting that machine. And when you finally get to use the machine, they come by and ask you how many sets you got left eventhough they saw you just get on the machine. So I say i had a few and offered him to work through but he said he'll wait. So he watches me workout which is annoying to me because I don't like people rushing my f*cking workout. Similiar thing happened with the lat pulldowns. There are two lat pulldowns in my gym which are completely identical to each other. I used the one of the left and I see this guy looking at me like hes waiting for me to get off eventhough theres another one sitting right next to me. So I think nothing of it and continue my workout. About second to my last set he comes over and asks me if I am done yet. Im like wtf is wrong with the one next to you? He said the left machine is the usual one he works on and it feels different to him. Im like you gotta be f*cking kidding me. So I said take my machine and I used the other one. Why does this shit happen to me? Occasionally you get the pervy old men who hit on the younger girls and then brag about it in the locker room.

Has anyone experienced shit like this? I only have to endure this for two months and it should be back to normal because most of them don't have the dedication to fitness. Mostly to them its just a fad. I feel like im going f*cking nuts.

When I used to go to powerhouse it was exactly the same thing. You get all the newyears resolutions and the douchebags who think they're going to get "Big". Now I go to a private club and I might see one person a night if that. It's nice! I know what you mean about the old person thing to. They're better off walking on the treadmill. They think they are going good by "exercising" but they don't do any good. I hate places like that now plus they charge way to much.

Yeah when I said it lasts two months. The cycle continues for two months with people working out and quitting a week later.

Don't get to pissed poppa snake this kind of stuff happens to everyone. I really love the kids you try to give advice to for example: Proper form, or any other techniques, but they already know everything. Which is why they have so much muscle on their body to begin with, J/K. It just happened to me today, but stick through it soon they will all be gone and only the real dedicated people will be left

you know what happens to me when i go to the gym? i lift. and then i go home. i take the gym like any other situation, be it the mall, work, school. wherever. if someone annoys you or you dont like what they do. unless in course it is dangerous to anyone else around. then go on with youre life and youre day...i dont get it i mean i can see complaining with some buddys and stuff. but i mean having to go online and rant about kids who dont know what theyre doing and all that stuff. if you think about it youre exactly the same as those parents and adults who used to get pissed about the 80's rock bands. saying they were a menace to society and all that crap. and hey look we rock theyre crap almost every day. im not saying were all gonna lift like idiots in the future. but come on now. i get if theyre dangerous. yell at them. but if theyre just annoying, go one with youre day...haha just like everyone else. i mean you obviously made it home alive to type on the computer. it couldnt have scared you all that bad. and obviously i have no problem with you. just figured id help you get through this "crisis". lift hard tho.

The thing of it is that 80's rock bands were on the radio and if you didn't want to listen to them then you changed the station. Bigpoppasnake is paying money to be there so he can't just leave or change his schedule to work around the disrespectful people in the gym that won't be there in a month anyways. It's completely different and I hate when people bring up stupid arguments to try to defend ridiculous people. The fact is if you go out into public where other people are you need to be on your best behavior and respect the other people around you and the belongings to others like gym equipment. Plain and simple!

Thanks gringo. Its not something necessary that I can ignore. These people directly affect my workout in some cases preventing. Right now its pretty cramped to move around because the kids are not working out and hogging the equipment for a place to hang out. And yes they disregard safety. The entire gym was pissed at the two kids when plates fell from the bench they were working at and it bounced and rolled near people. My gym used is usually filled with the mature people. I pay good money for my gym. And im happy with, but its around this time where it pisses me off. I can finish my workout within an hour with no distractions, now it takes me 3 hours to finish and i don't have enough time to cook my meals for the next day. I work full time and have night class twice a week so I need to get as much training I can get in as possible.

Its like paying a club fee to swim at a olympic pool in order to train for a competition. Only to have kids splash, play, and block the middle of the lanes like if it was a backyard pool.
