The relevation about wrestlers using Gear got me thinking how ironic the general population are, they love massive physiques, faster runners, stronger strongmen and people who can endure marathons like the Tour De France, but act amazed when drug abuse is identified and would they really turn out in force for athletes who were not able to perform at these high levels?

i seriously doubt it moorey, it seems that in society today, people utilize the quick and easy route to success instead of using hard work and determination.

It makes you wonder how many of the great sporting achievements have been chemically assisted. Youre right, many people want a quick fix, but apart from the persons own desire, are the public not also to blame, taking wrestling for example, would the crowds be less if there were average size guys wrestling?

i totally agree, it is the audience of these sports that has helped influence our athletes decisions. taking nothing away from them however, it is the actual persons decision to take steroids or performance enhancing drugs. but some how our sport always takes the blame for the utilization of steroids. sure there are plenty of bb's who use, but there are also plenty that don't. i'm sure its about the same split as professional baseball or american football.

Dont be so sure these guys were totally clean.
Back in those days some drugs such as Cocaine, caffeine and nicotine were used as performance enhancers.
Just because they did not have steroids does not mean they did not have drugs in sport.
From what I can remember drugs like coccaine masked the pain, less pain = more performance.
they cant use these today 'cause even the most basic test will show them up

There is also a difference in knowledge back then than there is now. Now at the apex of knowledge, even without steroids its not very odd to see strong people come around.

Steroids are the scapegoat for all things gone wrong. A man passes out during a game, he was on steroids and they dehydrated him. An athlete commits suicide, he was on steroids so they made him do it.

Heart diseas is one of the most common causes of death in america.

Depression is more prevelant than ever. Yet instead of saying, these guys that suffer from one or another are just anotehr statistic they are the way they are soley because of steroid use and not any predetermined factors.

Jucing isn't a short cut.

Allie is :)
