When you think about it, bodybuilding has come a long way since it all started. If I were to set a year It ill be 1965 when Larry Scott won the first ever Mr.O at about 200 pounds and arms, who were considered HUGE at 20inch.

Today I beleave its 2005 somewere in june. And no one will make a big fuzz about 20 inch arms. I dont think i need to describe the pro's of today but they make the world look a whole lot smaller. If we have advanced so much in just 50 years, what is to come in the next 50? How much further can we take it? Will the average weight in at the Mr.O`be 300lbs among the pros? Will arms and waists be at the same messurements? Or will there be a downfall? These are a few questions I think of while i shove a fork of egg whites in my mouth( ), hoping one day to stand on the Olympia stage and shake hands with Arnold.

But seriously, were do you think Body Building will be in the next 50 years?

hmm personally i dont think the human body itself can obtain a lot more mass than ronnie coleman has, yeah im serious he just packs on the mass on his abs mainly latley... maybe with technology and newer drugs just maybe 350 pounds on colemans hight ripped. but thats only a maybe. not a lot to go from here...

For sure, where people like Dexter Jackson win, because of perfection not because they weight 300lb.

As mentionned in all the responses above, I don't believe the human body can get much bigger than Coleman (Max weight of 350 lbs seems possible). Eventually, I think bodybuilding will be focused on good physiques. I'm not talking about distended guts. I'm talking about a professional attitude towards a passtime we all enjoy. The M. Olympia contest will have to eventually tighten the rules, to make the show a little more competitve (This would mean keeping the guts where they belong). You wouldn't be judged solely on poses you can hit, but also on how you maintain yourself during the competition. This would give hard working professionals, like Cutler, a chance at finally carrying the M. O. title. MY 0.02$

well im not sure how the rules could be tightned. do you meen like, screeming onstage, pushing ect...? cuz i like that stuff. the rules dont need to be tightned for cutler to win, he is gonna take it this year anyway!!!!! mark my words!

I think the IFBB will start setting regulations to prevent guys like gregg valentino and steriod freaks to step up on stage, this will prevent guys like dexter jackson to think it's a mass sport, and then ruin his body trying to add unneccisary mass.

Maybe there will be added another weightclass. "Super Megaweight" or something :) I also think technology will bring bodybuilding to another level. Drugs/supplements in 50 years will be far better than now.
Some day the mass limit will show though. Maybe they will drop like flies and the IFBB will re-invent the business.

Not a lot. i just dont see what you guys dont inderstand. this man has a small gut, thats plated with fuckin abs! he is lean as hell. i highly doubt that his gut weights anymore then one of his arms.
