On one of my leg days I had my little bro working out with me and we were just getting into our squats, I squat way more than him so we were changing plates out during each others rest periods. Anyway I had just finished up my last set of squats at 495 pounds, so thats 5 plates per side, as we were peeling off the plates we were just shooting the shit and I didn't realise that he was pulling off his last plate but I still had 4 plates on my side. As he pulled off the last plate his side of the bar shot up in the air and swung towards my head, as my side which was still weighed down with 180 pounds went crashing towards the ground. I dont think I've ever moved so fast in my life but I shot to the side and caught the bar before it smashed my skull and the mirror behind me. That was the end of my workout for that day as I had to go home and clean the shit out of my shorts. Anybody else had any accidents in the gym?

Twice, but not as bad as yours, I was doing calve raises on the smith machine and my friend loaded them up with like 5 45s on each side (im not advanced on the calve raises) and i didnt put the rubber mat underneath the wood block, so as i do my 3rd raise i guess the block slipped and the bar comes crashing down and i go forward and scared for my life. And another one where my friend loaded the leg press with a bunch of 45's and that day was the day where my tail bone was acting up and i couldnt do as much weight (but i didnt know) and so i released it and the leg press comes down and squashes me.

well it wasnt me who had the near miss..but here it goes..

i just got done finishing up my chest workout and was leaving the gym when i saw 2 of my friends doing hack squats. so they waved me over and talked for a quick minute cause i didnt want to interupt their workout...as i walked off..i heard a loud crash and boom..and it was the hack squat machine...apparently whoever was using it 1st didnt lock it all the way...and when my friend got under it....he had to adjust it cause it was to high for him anyway(short guy).when he got into position it slammed down at full speed and he literally did like a flip off that thing lol..lucky he didnt get to hurt..cause that could have put his knees in an awkward position if he did happen to catch it on the way down

So I was moving and my friends were helping me load up the truck. well i have a full size tournament pooltable that weighs a fucking TON!!!! its a 3 piece slate and each slate is heavy as fuck. well we were loading one of the slates into the moving truck and when we were done i was like dude who busted ass thats terrible. then my friend was like bro I think I shit my pants!!! we were dying we were laughing so hard so next thing you know he is coming downstairs from my bathroom with his boxers in a plastic bag. and all he said was i need to shower and he got in his car and left.

I was racking 425 on squats, an easy weight so i didn't think twice about slamming the bar down to rack it.. the bar bounced off the rack and thats a lot of weight to try to catch, i fell to my but with the weight on my back still and ended up breaking my C6 verterbae.... very lucky it wasn't worse

lmao, Some funny stuff guys. This didn't happen to me but it was still funny as hell.
I'm in the gym and I was near the Smith Machine doing forearms next to it. I had put the bar down and glanced up to ask my friend if he wanted that much weight on the bar. He was on the other side of the smith, where a guy was doing behind the neck shoulder presses, who had just racked the bar. My friend went to walk over to talk to me and didn't see the smith's bar and slammed full-speed into it with his forehead. He got up and tried to play it off that he didn't just smash him self in the face. I was dieing.

That's really weird Quinn, that's pretty similar to something that happened to me about this time last year, but I was lucky.

Exact same weight - 425. I tripled it, then went to rack it but missed the left J-hook and ended up in a half good morning with the bar pinned against the upright. Luckily the right side stayed on and I was somehow able to rack the bar without any real injury except a squashed finger.

Nothing really bad to report but a close call indeed. When I first started to get into some serious weight I had a big head and there were some girls in the gym showing off so I threw 465 on the squat bar for my firt time at that weight and when into it blind with no spot. Well I did the first rep barley and then saw the girls looking my way so i decided to do a second rep. No one in the gym could tell what almost happen because it was one movement but halfway down my left knee actualy gave and by some miracle I was able to regain control and finish the squat. I was so sared about what had happen that I just went home after my first leg exercise. lol

phew... I would've too. I had a bad experience with squats my 2nd or 3rd time doing them. Unfortunately I try not to include them now. I try to make up for it with the leg press machine. I'm afraid to squat without a spot, and I always lift alone.
