And it not like its to much weight, i squat 315 x 6 to 90 degres.

it is difficult so dont give up...1st time my workout partner and I tried it we almost gave up just using the barbell..but now it's a piece of cake..cross your arms with hands on ur shoulders..tilt ur elbows up so the friggin barbell dont roll off..tilt yourself back..you wont fall over cause the weight will balance you..feels like u cant breathe but u can..or just hold ur breath.l.do 135 till u get it down..I can do 315 but I usualy do 225..n it is easy now...do it and u will be ahead of the pack...

Use the smith machine to stabalize the weight. Look for a postion of the bar on your clavicle or chest if the pain on the delts is excessive.

And sorry, ken, no disrespect, but NEVER hold your breath during this exercise. As a matter of fact, I can't think of one where you should. Breath normally as much as possible, or out on the positive and in on the negative. If anything, you should be concentrating on contracting your abs throughout all leg movements. I think it helps support the lower back.

i love front squats...i find them easier & more comfortable than the usual squats. but +1 compulut if you wanna make it easier, the smith can ease a little more pressure than normal

if you have the size lots of good form leg extensions would do the trick.

yes, front squats make the quads..also does a number on your abs...not easy to get the form down..practice with a barbell at first..you realy have to pu your hands on your elbows to get your shoulders in line, then grasp the bar ..it has to ride up as high and as far up towards your neck(wind pipe) as you can..lean back to keep the bar from sliding off..it's not easy but practice makes perfect..it's worth the extra effort to learn to do these and make it a regular part of your workout...

next time, i'm doing front squats too. i've done them plenty of times before but i hate them and havn't done them in a while.
however, i did not used to cross my arms. i used to just hold it without crossing my arms with my elbows pointing steight ahead. is that not good?

just tried it the way you guys do with just the barbell. is it supposed to hurt your sholders that much. i mean mine hurt with just the barbell with no added weights!! I'm a smaller guy (i weigh about 120-125). do you have to have big sholders to be able to do them the way you guys do?

here's a picture of me so you can tell if my sholders are big enough to do front squats. i'm 5'4
