Distractions in the Gym, Lack of Gym Etiquette

I dont wanna turn this thread into how bad my school gym blows, although it blows so much it can suck a golfball through a gardenhose (thanks full metal jacket).

First off the treadmills are all stationed on wall that overlooks the weight areas, so it feels like you have an audience watching you. Normally that's not distracting, but it can be if some cute girls get up there, and I dont care what y'all say...it can be distracting no matter how much you try and block them out and stay focused, ipod included. lol.

Theres this one kid, i get angry just thinking about him. he wears cut off sleeves and a camo headband like Rambo, I **** you not. He just screams bloody murder on his first rep of his first set. I mean, i can understand a little grunt to push through this meat building reps that wreak havoc at the end of a set, but not 225 on your first set of squats. Wtf, my ex-girlfriend did 185 without any screaming, and it was her first time ever working out...(long story, but quite funny).

Anyways, the reason i posted this was not to rant, but to just complain about the lack of gym etiquette in some places and how they are hurting my workout with their bull****. Sure i should ignore the, and that's probably the best advice= but bottomline is that I hate kids that just go in and show off and scream all that ****. Ah, it just pisses me off and I needed a place to vent.

Oh, and if one more mother****er doesn't rack his weights or put them back in the right place, i'll bludgeon them with a dumbbell.

After working out at home for the first couple of years I knew I needed to join a gym. Thankfully the places I joined were very small quiet "off the radar" places. Since they had mostly weights, and hardly any machines or treadmills, it was mostly just serious bodybuilding enthusiasts working out there. Sounds goods but unfortunately there'd always be those few people that annoyed the hell out of everyone.

One guy who happened to do chest the same day as me. Skinny old guy. He'd put around 200 pounds on the bar. He'd do 3-5 quarter reps, not even half reps, then sit there for 20 minutes and read the newspaper. Then he'd do it again and again for what seemed like 5-6 sets.

Then there were these 2 guys who were both brawny but no definition, they'd drop the weight after EVERY SET. I mean yeah thankfully the floors were padded but they'd be doing flys or dumbell presses with like 100 pound dumbells or more in each hand. Then they'd mark the sets down in their notebooks.

I'm sorry to anyone who actually does log their workouts with a notebook, but if you're trying to show off and look tough by using heavier weight then you can handle and then dropping it all the time, grabbing a little notebook and jotting it down afterwards pretty much kills whatever 'manliness' your trying to show.

Eventually though I realized I preferred working out at home. Yes it can cost a lot of money, but I think it works out (no pun intended) in the long run. Spend 500 dollars on equipment that will last you hopefully the rest of your life, and never have to worry about fees, sharing equipment, people staring at you, etc..

I'm not by any means knocking on the gym though. Some people prefer to be in the company of others, while some prefer to train alone. I understand that some people are motivated by being around others like them. I however am more motivated when I'm home blasting my music (instead of the garbage they play in most commercial gyms), and watching Rocky IV while I'm warming up.

its times like these guys when you really need to take the piss outa those blokes and do the exact same exersize next to them but for waaaaaaay less weight, but scream waaay louder.
when they ask wtf you are doing tell them "im just acting like you, you dimwit, so everytime you act like a retard, your gonna know about it" or some **** like that to make them realise how idiotic they look.

...or you could just go up to them and point and laugh

takes all kinds but people who leave underwear,bandaids,razors,socks etc on benchs,sinks,towel racks etc are the pits...plus 1/2 eaten food ..empty juice bottles etc..clipping toe nails in the sauna is another disgusting thing,drying their nuts off with the hair dryer...lol...giv me a break!
